As per a release from the school, Huey will remain on as DoBo, and the player development guy from Arkansas will be our player development guy.  As per Zach B, last assistant spot and advisor role are still up for grabs, and Espositio and Borman are still options as the last assistant.

I'm not sure what I think about Huey.  Truthfully I wasn't aware he had even taken the Dobo position from Dan Matic but I also never heard Matic doing anything productive either.

Who do we prefer for that last spot?  Esposito appears to have a decent track record recruiting from all of his time under Tubby Smith.  However, Borman may be able to give us an inroad to some of his aau guys.

Borman is coach K's nephew.  He has run multiple AAU programs and ran IMG's basketball program.  He was DoBo at San Jose State at one point earlier in his career.  He has trained kids to great success and if we are going to have a recruiting specialist who obviously has a ton of local clout, then it's a good choice.  Especially given that Cleveland and Macon are actually coaches, unlike the other staff where we essentially had one in-game assistant and Mitch as the player development guy.

Braziller now just tweeted that Borman is out.

I’m optimistic. Like the staff, CMAs work ethic and record. But it’s a little too early to be doing cartwheels. We will see. CMAs not a slam dunk hire, but we could have done much worse.

CMA was a safe hire, but I am estastic about his staff, including Pressey. The DOBO could have been a sxier hire but I think we repay a guy who paid his dues under the prior staff. Under the circumstances, SJU did excellent with the current staff.

I wouldn’t give Mullin’s original staff an F. At first I was excited by it but was just surprised that St. Jean would be full time 3rd AC spot. Richmond as special assistant was nice. Once the most significant piece left and was not replaced it went bad quick. I like the staff MA has put together and have listed plenty of reasons why.

Fair, although new regime could be given and INC as it has no results yet.  Mullin staff was disappointing.  Slice was overrated in my opinion given his his 5 years at Manhattan which ended with a 6-25 record with all players recruited by him.  While he would be getting lower level players at Manhattan, the record says something about talent evaluation.

New A/C's are all potential HC's in waiting.  It will be interesting to see how they mesh together, develop current roster and make in-roads in recruiting for 2020.  We need to see results first before criticizing/praising them.  Our team could have the greatest group of A/C's but if they do not work together--failure (i.e. Slice/Matt)

To start it was an A- for both and you can make the case it was an A for Lavin. Then Dunlap left and it became a C/C+.

When Mullin lost Slice the grade fell quickly.

Lav's first staff- A. Dunlap solid with Xs and Os and Lav had the recruiting down. After Dunlap, I concur- never replaced but for me grade dropped to a B. Had some unfortunate bad breaks for team that would be hard for any staff to control or save.

Mullin- with Slice A- with Slice supposed to have providing the elite recruiting end of things he is responsible for the high grade. Once he leaves this grade goes to C+ for me. Mullin never learned how to coach and Matt's recruiting good transfers saves this from being C- to D territory. St. Jean was ok but I think he becomes a good coach one day somewhere else with gaining more experience and better experience under a real coach.

Lavin Staff - St Johns has never had a better assistant coach than Mike Dunlap. Lavin getting sick derailed a lot of good momentum coming off the NCAA appearance and ranked DLo/Dom/Green etc., class. Lavin was a good recruiter but poor x/o guy. Lavin was a great promoter and representative of St Johns because he was so media friendly. B

Mullin Staff - Mullin's tenure was a great promoter and representative of the University. Poor recruiter and poor x/o guy. Slice filled the need for an experienced former head coach, and stud recruiter. However, he was an unsuccessful former head coach. He did get kids to go to Pittsburgh, but any of us could get kids to Kentucky under Calipari. His body language was poor that first year, like he already checked out. Richmond? Can anyone say with certainty what Mitch did? St Jean worked hard as the coach, but too much of a learning curve. Matt A gets an A because he was the more successful hard worker as the only recruiter. c-

Anderson Staff - College basketball professionals. Mature men who know their way around. Anderson appears to be active, which is a nice change. Macon might actually be the reason LJ stayed. Feel like these guys are solid, career college basketball professionals; they all know how to recruit and coach. Which is a nice change. B for keeping LJ and Heron.

Not surprising. Leitao is obviously a slimy recruiter (and somehow still can’t do better than 9th place) so makes sense he’d hire another one
