I originally wasn’t a fan of the Scheyer option but I really believe he’s coach K’s hand picked successor. I don’t think Coach K would advise him to go to a place where he can’t win or if he felt Scheyer wasn’t ready for it

St. Jean would be terrible. Mullin’s 2.0. If st. Jean were any good,  The hero would still be here cursing at referees.

Retire there? I just assumed he was only kidding.

Its not anyone's top choice, but at this point what are we left with? Do we want to field a team next season and have a CHANCE to contend? Fiscally, he is cheap as unproven and the money that was "put aside" for an established head coach can go towards paying handsomely high level assistants. I want no part of who they are interviewing and the reboot it will require. The Pitino dream was shot to hell this week with the Louisville FBI thing.

Cragg has been saying Yes Coach K, No Coach K for 30 years. Probably it was reflex.

Considering our AD has been at Duke for 30 years, Coach K can essentially choose our next coach with how he is probably revered by Cragg

Cluess has $2million to $2.5million buy-out per Zagoria. LMAO. Great job by the Johnnies. Well-handled. MAAC coach. But your a Big East school. Maybe better put is that you’re in the Big East but your not a Big East team.

This entire thing has been a disaster from a PR standpoint and program standpoint. They should call us dysfunction U.

In since we have royally shot ourselves in the foot- these mid-major assistants and duke young assistants being vetted now are not what we need. If that happens expect a 4 year rebuild AGAIN- these guys do not want to play for that and I cannot blame then. We are going to lose money going into the program. We needed to poach a decent head coach with good recruiting connects (i.e. not Cluess) and we have failed on this mission. To push Mullin out you need to UPGRADE not downgrade.

I cannot believe I am saying this but Greg might be best bet if they are going this low. He will keep the core mostly, team knows him, may get recruits back. He has been coaching anyway for 4 years. He must be allowed to hire tier 1 assistants with Xs and Os AND recruiting however or its just step 1 again. We should have been making calls to Mark Jackson and head coaches from decent programs with blue chip backgorund but we aren't so I would rather have this then other mid-major crap and unaffiliated young assistants. Repole needs to open up his wallet if he is offering it. Don't offer if you are not going in seriously.

As a double alum of this school, I am disgusted.
Ball of confusion.

Somebody asked me for Ken Pom MAAC ratings during Cluess's tenure at Iona.  I was curious myself and since no one is home here at the moment, I looked it up.

2011-12  20
2012-13  14

Also, for the conspiracy theorists among us, at the same time that Cragg gave Mullin the dreaded vote of confidence last Saturday,  this happened: https://twitter.com/gene_wang/status/1114632923540480000?s=19

Those are Ken Pom's rankings for the conference in the respective year.

Which is out of what, 32? So the MAAC stinks, we already knew that. If this is a disinformation campaign to stop SJU from hiring Cluess you're doing an excellent job.

Nothing against Cluess. Some wag on Twitter suggested the other MAAC schools pool their resources to pay his buy out to get him out of the league so that the other teams might stand a chance to win. Pretty funny, I almost laughed.
