I agree 100 percent- and its also clear that the Repole involvement has to be exaggerated. Opening up your wallet does not mean going mid-major- it means throwing money at someone established with an offer he cannot refuse.

I just do not understand them- how is Mark Jackson not getting a call now? If anything him replacing his friend makes it less awkward. If they do not bring in the Lavin/Mullin name right now (forget production, think starpower name) they will lose alot of money  next year for Garden games. LJ will have no reason to stay and no one wants to see a mid-major coach running things on a last place team. We are not the knicks, we do not sell out (except big games) if we suck

They aren’t calling Mark Jackson because he’s bananas.

He is never getting this job. He’s probably never getting any coaching job.

I’ve been to games where Moser was coaching twice.

No you haven’t.

You are braindead man.  He led a mid-major to the final four, is a well respected coach and known as a good recruiter.  THis is the exact type of coach we need.  He coaches defense well and likes to play at a slow pace which is always advantageous. He is only 50 so there could be some continuity.  Looking at our last 25 years it is going to be difficult to attract quality with our history of firing coaches.

This is a guy that has been to a grand total of one NCAA Tournament in 15 years as a head coach. Only 4 of those 15 seasons has his team been top 100 on KenPom. Do you think it's more likely that the norm for this dude is the 14 years he missed the tournament or the 1 miracle final 4 run season? There's a reason nobody else hired this guy after his final 4 run.

This guy is a midwest guy through and through. He has no clue what this area is like and has no real ties to it.

If Moser is the guy, we'll be doing this all over again in 4-5 years.

I don't hate the Moser idea. A mid-major school doesnt resch the final four by just getting lucky. You need to be a damn good coach.

And being lucky. He played a 7 seed in the sweet sixteen and a 9 seed in the Elite Eight.

I’ve been to games where Moser was coaching twice.

The first was in Normal, Illinois

Scarsdale, if you were hanging out in Illinois, much less "Normal Illinois," the irony of you being normal in Illinois would have caused a bigger bang than the last one big one. STFU.

Curious. What makes you think Jackson would be in even slightly interested in this shitty dead end job?

Do you think midwestern kids want to come to St. John’s? Okay academics and below average campus life?

Butler slows it down because look at who and where they recruit. I don’t think that’s a model that would work here. Tim Doyle and Geno Lawrence are the last two guys that fit that mold that I can remember. Mussini and RF?

I think Cluess and Moser may be our best bets at this point. Although I hope they talk to Odom too. All these guys can win here. Even if Moser is Midwestern personified and Odom isn't from the area their coaching will give this program a foundation to build on.  What other viable options are there?

3/4 wins in the tournament were against top 25 teams. Every final four team needs a bit of luck, but a mid-major team winning 4 straight in the tournament can not happen without an outstanding coach.

In 15 seasons as a Head Coach Porter Moser has had:

- 4 Seasons finished as a top 100 team on Kenpom (31, 86, 97, 97)
- 2 Seasons finished as a top 100 offense (63, 92)
- 4 Seasons finished as a top 100 defense (17, 27, 75, 97)
- 1 NCAA Tournament appearance
- 1 NIT appearance

I can't believe he's a serious candidate. His ceiling is so low here. I'd much rather go for a Scheyer or Odom than Moser.

Coaching matters, first and foremost. We haven't had that here in over 20 years.

Clown show

Cragg should be the only one making the decision. Oliva's another know nothing. If true shame on the higher ups.

Moser isn’t my choice but if you look at Loyola Chicago as a whole then what he’s done is more impressive.

From 1985-2011 when he was hired:
6 15-win seasons
1 20-win season

Since moser was hired:
6 15-win seasons
3 20-win season
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

8 coaches 27 years, school adminstration is a disgrace, let Cragg do his job.
