I have no problems with transfers. Look at TT....some of the best players we've had were transfers.

The transfer game is fine as a complement, but without much continuity we were always starting over.

I also think there’s a big part of our recruiting challenges that would have been solved with harder work. I refuse to buy into the utter nonsense that there were no big men for the staff to recruit. Just about every opponent we faced had a better front court than us. Even some of the low level D1 cup cakes we played. They are absolutely out there.

I disagree. For schools like Texas Tech, Nevada, and St. John’s transfers mean a lot.

Without four transfers TT would have wasted a season with arguably the best player in program history this year.

We could be in a similar the next two seasons, albeit with a lower ceiling.

We could use 3-4 transfers on the roster at any given time. Let’s try to limit the sign and sits to only very good players and not Keita and Dixon types.

There are serviceable big men all ovet the D1 landscape. Mid majors and low majors too. Just because we don't know how to recruit and find any does not mean they aren't out there. That is a categorical falsehood that some of the old regime backers would want you to believe. They're all over.

We need to sign at least 1 solid big man this cycle. It's a must.

Slice had zero to do with Ponds. If anything he was a Tony Chiles guy.

False. Slice was at several of his games. In fact, they rolled 3 deep on multiple occasions. I don’t know why that stopped with Mullin.

If you want to call it a joint effort, I’d concede to that. I think Lavin would have landed him too.

As for Heron, Slice was the lead. He had a relationship with Heron’s dad. He came very close but Auburn has a good payroll with Pearl.

When he transferred we were literally the only school he considered.

Do Steere, Roberts and Keita count? ;)

Steere didn't play for us last season, Roberts is 6'6-6'7 and a fr that hardly played, Keita ooh ooh one big who got hurt. We still needed more bigs.

If Roberts is only 6’6 - 6’7 then that’s ok because that means the other forwards in the BE listed at 6’8-6’9 are also only 6’6-6’7.

Roberts is a physical specimen. Really excited to see him develop the next 3 years.

Why do you think Roberts is 6’6-6’7? He’s listed at 6’9. I haven’t seen any reason to question him relative to other guys with the same listing.

Mehh. Based on what I've seen and heard Steere should easily be the best of the bunch.

Did you actually watch the games this past season? Our front court was easily the biggest weakness on this team.

Like I said there's plenty out there. I expect Anderson and staff to target one if not two.

Roberts is a raw athlete with some good defensive and rebounding potential. He needs to put more size on. I would call Tyrique Jones a physical specimen. If Roberts looks like that in 2 years then sure.

Steere seems like the only offensively capable big on the squad and I'm basing that off what I've seen and read about him. Also that small snippet he played for NC St he put up a nice statline. Still need one more big who can play both ends of the floor.

If the season went a month longer Roberts would have completely surpassed Keita on the depth chart.

Roberts moves exceptionally well. Keita wasn’t awful on defense (like every other aspect of the game)  but he’s very mechanical.

I think Roberts will be able to give 15 high energy minutes under Anderson. He and Williams must still be high-fiving each other over how much better this system fits them than the last.

It looks like Anderson recruited Steere (Watkins has the NC connection) so it would appear he thought Steere was a good fit. I remember the old Arkansas team under Richardson having a VERY hefty center and of course they also had 300 lb Oliver Miller. I think Steere can hang if they could.

It’d be nice to add a 6’9 Grady Reynolds type (on court only).

I do watch all the games. You said we need to sign one more big ...i presume you meant now as opposed to a year ago ;) ... To me, I don't think a big is a crucial need. 2 PGs are crucial but if we can get one more big so be it.

I know Earlington is 6'6" or 6'7" ... Roberts is definitely 6'9" like Keita like Steere. I count Earlington as a strong front court player this and the following years. Hence a big not a crucial priority.

Jones doesn’t have 1/3 the physical ability of Roberts. Roberts has legit NBA physical gifts.

Roberts absolutely needs 10-15 lbs you are right on that.

I think you are very off on your front court assessment. We need one more big man badly.

PG is absolutely the biggest hole and we could possibly survive with the bigs we have, but why risk losing a season over it afain?

I dont think we disagree that much. As I said I am not averse to another big man but I dont think its as bad a need as you suggest. Do watch the Arkansas vs Providence (with tons of bigs) game summary, I could swear I saw a few Roberts look alikes having their way with the Friars. I think 15 mins Roberts, 15 Steere and 10 mins between Keita and Earlington in Anderson's system is more than a survival strategy.

So if we agree we have no PGs and we have 9 players currently. I would add 2 PGs and then either a big or a SF (3 pt specialist type) and i am basing that on having 2 SF in LJ and Caraher.

We have such a small margin for error with transfers. When we lost LoVett, we needed a guard, and there was no one who could step in. When we lost Keita, same story.

If everyone is healthy for the entire season, it can work, but that’s not a realistic expectation. How many seasons has STJ had without at least one key player being out for an extended period of time? Feels automatic.

We can’t consider Earlington a big man, or anything really. He barely had a chance to play. It would be great if he became a tough inside presence, but from the looks of things, he thinks he’s a guard.

It would be great if Anderson told the big men that if they shoot a three pointer in a game they’re getting benched.

Well if you've been watching then you would know that BIGS are the biggest weakness on our team. Last year, the year before and every year for the last 5 years.

There's a reason our team is so unbalanced. Horribly rebounding team and everyone in the human race saw this last year within the first few minutes of any game we played in.

Earlington is not even close to 6'6-6'7. He is 6'5 barely. Roberts is barely 6'8 and that's being kind. He's closer to 6'7.

Most of the bigs we have couldn't face the basket and make a move let alone play with their back to the basket.

We need a decent big who can contribute on both ends.

Thank you. If Roberts is 6'9 and Earlington 6'7 I'  buy marillac and Ez their season tickets. More like 6'6 1/2 and 6'4.
