5’9 lefty pg.  Had offers from vcu, iona, minessota.  3 star recruit.

Anyone know anything about him.  Hes small, but will probably be the starting pg as we dont have anyone else.

“tough as sh*t” sounds like the shot in the arm we need. Welcome to St.John’s John McGriff.

He sounds like Mike Anderson as a point guard at Tulsa, good get for Coach Anderson

Quick, tough, breaks down opposing defenses. Nice first signing of the Anderson era.

Not really about a 3 star who is 5.9, we should have been patient and waited for something better for such an important position.

Is there some rule about carrying a max # of PGs I don’t know about? Every team should have 3 PGs.

beggars can't be choosers, it's late there's not a billion guys available. We have 4 spots still open, doesn't mean McGriff is the starter

As reluctant I am to say it- check the JUCO circuit find a waiver transfer in this situation.  In fairness, have not seen him play but having a 5'9 PG and true freshman will not be a great look for Heron and if LJ returns. See if Williams can play it. If we are talking depth I get that, but still with a more physical conference we have to do better with the point. There has to be bigger PGs out there that are at least a bit higher ranked.

Was also being recruited by Michigan. The kid's stock was really on the rise. This signing looking better by the minute.

Sounds like a good get this late. Height is over rated. Would take Malik Boothe at this point.

Height is not overrated on the defensive side of the ball.  This kid is here to be a sparkplug and run the new high octane offense.

Also never hurts to grab a kid from a talented area like DC right out of the gate for this staff.

Why do people care about height for a PG in college? How many guards are crafty and strong enough to post in college?

From a purely mathematical standpoint there are exponentially more 5’9 humans than 6’2. There are therefore more athletic freak anomalies. Why write those kids off?

Because posting up isn't the only thing guards do where height matters.

If there are exponentially more 5'9" humans than 6'2" humans and therefore more athletic freak anomalies then why are there exponentially more 6'2" basketball players than 5'9" basketball players?
