This isn’t on Cragg. He’s the best AD we’ve had in awhile. He gets it. We also do not know how he’s addressing this situation so let’s see how it unfolds.

The best AD in a while at St. John’s is like being the best behaved Subway spokesperson over the last decade. It’s meaningless.

Materials were submitted extremely late. It was less than a month ago that the NCAA received everything and that is inexcusable. He needs to lawyer up immediately and fight this in the media or he is a lightweight.

This is open and shut. The kid sat out all of last season. He’s not a superstar and will lose a year over this. His coach was fired and his teammates left. The NCAA has no leverage to fight a media firestorm over this. This is NYC...the media capital of the world.

Has the NCAA provided any reason as to why they denied this waiver?

I hope the kid gets eligible but if St. John's is counting on a kid from Cleveland State to be a difference maker this season, it's going to be a LONG year.

Yeah. Even Cedric Jackson excelled there and a layup was an adventure for him here and his shot would often get blocked by the rim.

Besides the fact that it doesn’t matter how good he is, there are talented kids everywhere.

Techically Cleveland St but never played a second there... We're relying on a kid from St. Francis (NY) of the NEC.

This is somewhat my point. We're not fighting over a blue-chipper that would propel St. John's into the Sweet 16.

I just think if St. John's has financial resources to burn it's probably better served elsewhere rather than legal fees against the NCAA to get Rasheem Dunn eligible.

Also if we really want to get down to it the school was incredibly well prepared for Mustapha Heron. They had an insurmountable amounts of evidence in black and white submitted to the NCAA. There was an expertise awareness level of what was needed to get the waiver.

I'm not so sure this was the case with Dunn. Should have been proactive as opposed to reactive.

This is tad cynical and that's coming from someone who's such a cynic that he doesn't trust his own skepticism.

In a perfect world the NCAA would not exist and Dunn would be free to contract with any university to the mutual benefit of both parties. But then in a perfect world my bong would have tits and a vagina. In this imperfect world either Dunn is eligible for a waiver or he isn't, irrespective of skill level. If he is, the university - especially this Catholic university - should help him get one. If he isn't they should not, despite the fact that they're short a point guard and that that they can probably inflict on the NCAA a process that forces it to recapitulate.

I understand the idea of keeping your powder dry and that the NCAA has a long institutional memory and I find unseemly Free Rasheem petitions and #hashtags and suggestions that SJ fans inform Cleveland State recruits via Twitter of C St's AD's actions - which is recommended behavior from various classy posters at RDC - and I find repulsive supportive sentiments expressed by hypocritical pieces of shit like Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas who've grown rich ball washing the most corrupt actors in college basketball. But as sick as I am I still believe in right and wrong and this outcome is either one of those. Which outcome should dictate the university's behavior.

I think it’s a statement to stand up for your player even if he isn’t the savior.

Sweet 16? He’s a important piece to our team who is simply trying to make it to a post season tournament. That is enough for us to try. Plus it’s the right thing to do for the young man who clearly has been done wrong. What message would that send recruits if we did nothing.

Dunn's numbers as a sophomore in an inferior conference paled in comparison to Mikey Dixon as a freshman.

While I value what Dunn means to this team this year I wouldn't support dedicating additional funding to fight the NCAA on his behalf. I'm hoping our AD wouldn't either.

I can understand the unpopularity but for greater good of the program there are better ways to spend resources.

File an appeal and hope he's eligible by December

Dunn is physically superior to Mikey Dixon in every way. Calling the MAAC superior is quite a stretch as well.

I think Dixon could have done well here offensively. It turns out he probably didn’t have enough between the ears to play defense at this level. I’d be surprised if Dunn wasn’t at least above average on that end of the floor.

You defend and support your players regardless of how much of an impact they may or may not have. This ruling is egregious and it goes against everything the NCAA has purported to change going forward.

We are one of the last programs that should be afraid of the NCAA. We may not be a Kansas-type blue blood, but I’d bet we have one of the highest %s of attorneys as alumni or fans—even forum villains like Marillac and Foad.  Maybe it’s time we got together and threw that weight around in matters like these. St. John’s is also located in the media capital of the country. We have tons of leverage in situations like these.

You know this isn't a fight? We're all here to discuss and debate about a school/team we root for. We will all have all have different opinions on matters.

The divide here lately is very troubling. Not sure when things got like this.
