I watched a lot of Jefferson games when they had Dunn and Ponds and I was very impressed with Dunn. I’m too lazy to go back and watch tape to see why, but I think I remember being impressed with his ability to score with either hand and to control his body to draw contact and then get off good shots within 10-12 feet. I think he also reminded me of a Ced Jackson type loose ball/rebound hawk. My first reaction when we signed a Jefferson kid was “please be that kid who played with Ponds.”

With that written, I think Williams has to be the #3 guy. He has more upside as a shooter and he showed a good IQ last year. A lot of kids coming up from lower levels struggle with the pace and are too rushed. I think Dixon was fine offensively even if he was a little hurried, but his low IQ on defense was his undoing. I don’t see that being an issue with Dunn.

Williams should be able to help with our less than stellar PG situation by helping to keep the ball moving with LJ. We’ll need a lot of good passes and some penetration from those two.

What makes you think Williams will help with ball movement?

I hope Dunn really improved his stock and works out well for us, But , if he was so good in HS, why  wasn’t he recruited by high majors?

I’m hoping that Dunn is the kid who wasn’t really recruited out of high school, but worked his butt off to get better. I haven’t seen enough of him to know how his game will translate to the BE, but it’s clear Dunn has been trying to play against tougher competition since he left St.Francis.

Obviously I hope he is a player. But in two years at SF against the sort of D1 competition he'll be facing day in day out he did this on 10-25 from the floor:

5 points vs Providence
2 points vs Virginia
12 points vs NC State
10 points vs ND

All losses by a combined score of 293-195.

Hopefully that is not a harbinger of things to come.

Judging by Eli’s body language at MA’s opening press conference, can’t say I’m surprised. The kid was literally chewing his shirt and looked awkwardly out of place. Going onto Matty A, lost respect for him when he tried power play when he flirted with wade at LSU...we saw what type of guy wade was plus his recruiting a cross dressing felon big “man” from Florida

Why wasn’t Ja Morant, Eric Paschall? or Damian Lillard?  Some guys just fall through the cracks. I thought he was very clearly an A-10 talent and certainly a MAC or CAA talent.

Maybe his height? He’s only 6’2 and he’s definitely not a PG plus he can’t shoot so that makes him less than ideal for the big boys. He would work best in a three-guard lineup in a SF role IMO.

What makes you think Williams will help with ball movement?

He made some savvy passes for a frosh last season and he looked very poised and confident. He wasn’t rushed. If he can make some outside shots he will be able to create enough space off the bounce to drive and dish or kick.

Heron is not a good passer so it’s up to Williams and LJ to facilitate some offense from the perimeter to mitigate the PG situation.

True, but these three games were his first three games of his college career.

True, but these three games were his first three games of his college career.

And in his fourth game against Savannah State he put up 20. Kids grow up so fast these days.

Now how about you go wipe up, you've dribbled kool aid all down your shirt.

It’s certainly a concern, however, he played those games as a freshman and a sophomore. We’re getting Dunn in his 4th college basketball season.

Frankly, if he puts up 10 points per game in the BE, isn’t that about what we’d expect if we’re being hopeful, and reasonable?

A lot is riding on his development. Let’s hope he’s ready to play.

Ah Marillac, home of the 6'4 power forwards and the 6'2 small forwards. You must have been a big fan of the 6'5 and under league from some years back.

Some people just don't get it or want to take an extremely nonsensical view in the hopes that they will someday be right. It's so refreshing to see Anderson recruiting bigs who are actually 6'7 and up. It's even more promising that he actually knows how to coach bigs.

You play your best 5 as often as possible. Hopefully that includes a true big man and a 6’7 wing but that’s not always the case.

I think Dunn needs to be part of a three guard attack and that is likely why he was passed over by so many schools.

Yeah he recruited a juco big with a bad knee that is no bigger than 6'5. Did i miss someone else?

He also recruited a SF who is supposedly a true 6’7 but is also clearly the worst Champagnie twin. But let’s indulge these psychos and pretend we’re rolling out Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones.

I think you're mistaking the true juco big with that severely undersized power forward that your boy Mullin recruited named Earlington. Thankfully due to Anderson's coaching acumen he may be able to make a reclamation project out of Earlington because Mullin sure as hell did not know how to utilize him.

The juco big you're referring to is 6'7 and a physical, inside scorer. He's also recruiting several other 6'8 and above guys. It's nice to have a coach who gets it and actually knows how to coach. Just watch and learn.

We are clearly rolling out 4 projects. Only Dunn isn’t a project, or at least he’s not in stage 1 of development.

Let’s see what CMA can do with these guys. Maybe someone will surprise us.
