How could we get rid of a coach that does nothing but improve every single year he coaches? I prey the Razorback works out but this is just insanity.  Imagine the heights we would have reached this season with the legend at the helm?

Please stop. Anything is an improvement from that abysmal first year from Mullin, one of the worst teams in St. John's history. Why is this the same argument on every thread about Mullin. He's gone, he brought in good talent but was not a good overall coach, in game, or anything that has to do with actual coaching. The man was a figurehead and that is all.

Old man. Your so senile that you still think coach Mullins wasn’t a lazy bum.
and you still can't spell the last name of the greatest player in our program's history

I can certainly spell the last name of the laziest coach in the history of sports. I just call him Mullins to annoy you guys.

Other than Keita and Dixon can you name these sit out transfers who didn't pan out? That's two. Wright could be considered three I suppose but we'll never know what sort of player he might have become under Mullin and Richmond's masterful tutelage.

I am not sure how much sarcasm is in this post because players didn’t get better here. But the sit out transfers allowed amar to stay in the rotation. You blame Lavin for amar. Amar sat on the bench for lavin. Amar was ready to go to Marist, before Mullins begged him to come back. Besides Simon none of the sitouts were worth it. Can’t play 2 players down every year and expect to compete.

As much as I love bashing Mullins we should be talking about our new coach and AD who seem to be doing everything right. ALL the coaches are out recruiting. ALL the coaches are atleast pictured at practice. New uniforms. Improved schedule. Looks like the complete opposite.

Mullin is gone. He's not coming back (to coach) anytime soon. Piling on him just makes you look like a douche. Even though he underachieved in my opinion, we can only speculate how hamstrung he was by the school. The same school that turned a coaching search into a national embarrassment. The one that had a hall of fame coach reach out to them, only to turn him away. Don't be a douche Sam Beckett with a head injury.

Yes Mullin was hamstrung-by his lazy gluteus maximus.

but was not a good overall coach
How do you know that?  Am I wrong?  Did his record not improve every single year he coached here?  The fact that he was on an upward trajectory as a head coach is positively undeniable.

He can’t run his own in game huddles during time outs. If that’s not enough proof he didn’t have a clue I don’t know what is.

What was the strength of schedule for each year. If the SoS was relatively the same every year, this is a solid point.

Last year’s schedule wasn’t good, but not nearly as bad as people thought.

The BE was down last year and the team was still at the bottom of the conference. The Seton Hall game was terrible, but that was the first game of the year...They completely collapsed at the end of the year, and showed in the playin game they didn’t belong in the tournament.

I think Mullin was set up for failure, but he did not do himself any favors either. Simple situational awareness of not tying your shoe on national TV during a huddle that he is not running, and cursing at refs all game every game, with a new AD in town is not good optics.

Shame on the school with outdated facilities, and mediocre funding, to give a complete rebuild job to a coach with no experience...Especially SJU’s greatest living legend. Have a hands off approach to him, let him have immediate access to the President of the School, and then all of a sudden take that away, and have a new AD clamp him down.

This whole four years was a bumbling mess...After year one, pressure should have been put on him to get more experience help. By year four the bad habits were already established, and things were already too late.

Your lying again to support your twisted agenda.  He ran the majority of in game huddles. St. Jean ran the minority.

Only St. John's fans self loathe to the level that they judge the season of the team they purportedly support more harshly than an entire committee of knowledgeable unbiased observers.

You can't make this stuff up.

I get your point and it's also solid.  But from 16-17 to 21-13 and a tournament bid is such a huge jump forward that strength of schedule becomes a moot point in this case.

No he didn’t. If your not willing to be honest about what has transpired then we cannot have a discussion.

I'm being honest. They did that camera in the huddle thing and Mullin would always be leading the conversation.  I think once maybe twice St. Jean was talking during it and you guys pounced on our favorite son.

They were the very last team to make the tournament. They lost in the play in game by 11, to a team that played slightly better then them to win. The tournament game counts as a tournament bid, but this was an overall disappointing season.

SJU was a controversial bubble pick, but anyone on the bubble is always controversial. The fact is that They went 1-4 down the stretched and got blown out in the second round of the BET. All they had to do was win one more game to finish in the upper half of the BE and avoid that first game. That would have gave them a stronger seed.
