2 reasons:

1) show me - they know anderson has the chops to do this, but the stench of lazy, selfish hero play from Mullin is what those coaches recall most recently from this squad

2) as Dave has said, Anderson is not a local dude.  He's not completley unknown to these guys, but he's seen as a fish out of water in the big east.  Which he is

Nice, blaming preseason rankings on Mullin. Also interesting to note that last years selfish and lazy team had 470+ assists which is 50+ more than any year since 2001 which was the point that I got tired of looking to prove my point that some people, you not excluded, are lazy and don’t know how to judge a basketball team.

472 assists isn’t bad, even though they were 107th which I guess you could say is pretty bad

What about his game indicates high IQ to you?

I remember watching him instinctively book for the basket to box out after a shot went up. That’s something smart players do.

We haven’t had enough of a sample to even guess what he might give us, but I like players that believe they have a responsibility to rebound.
Understanding just that one point makes him smarter than anyone
on the previous staff who disagreed that rebounding was important and intentionally or not, encouraged our consistent laziness on the court.
