Josh Roberts is noticeably stronger and less Bambi. Excited about his progress.

As for the rest of the team we need a lot of work. We are gonna have to lean on LJ and Heron a lot offensively. That’s concerning bc I could see them wearing down by February especially Heron who hasn’t played a full season ever.

Teams are gonna sag on Rutherford and Champagnie bad. Gonna double LJ and Heron. Need these guys to at least be a threat early in games.
Heron has played 31, 32, and 32 games in his 3 year career so not sure what you mean by a full season Dave.

- Gil Scott and Ed looked like 2nd team all conference players.  I would have benched Heron after the injury.

- Of course hard to tell in a scrimmage but Earlington and Roberts seemed improved.

- Displayed a strong commitment to defense.

- How could they give us Michael Stephens again? Ever.

- Gonna be a long season if they don't get Dunn. And I don't even know if he's any good.

Overall, a pretty encouraging game.

Yeah, we're really going to make some noise when the Division II season starts for real.

Cheer up. You were happier last year when we almost lost this preseason game. Were we losing at the half? Don’t remember. I do remember the hero arguing a back court call for like 15 minutes (he was right, but who cares) as terrible shot after terrible shot was taken by our team.

LJ played some point in high school but I'm skeptical his handle is tight enough to do this for extended minutes.

His handle is much better than Simon’s. There is no other alternative after the staff has squeezed 20 minutes out of Rutherford.

A couple of observations of the new tweaks around Carnesecca last night:

1) The new banners look great, it gives the building history. I really like the championship banners standing alone at midcourt, the rescinded 2003 NIT championship still stings.

2) The scoreboard malfunctions were infuriating. Everytime the real time camera switched angles on the scoreboard the box scores shut down. Whatever new software was input, the operations department didn't troubleshoot it before the game. You would think that they would have a couple trial runs considering that the old scoreboard was taken down.

Also, team stats that were once displayed on the halfcourt scoreboard weren't on the big screens. This needs to change in the future.

3) Cragg and his wife personally went around the bowl at halftime to greet the fanbase. They just get it, so refreshing to have a man who has a pulse, personality and leadership.

All in all a fun night in Queens, looking forward to Wednesday night.

Probably best thing I've read. Little things like this are needed

Cragg is great. He has been since day 1. Never understood anyone taking any kind of shot at him. I spoke to him yesterday.

No shot that Williams Jr. can play respectable point after Rutherfors instead of LJ needing to become 2nd option there ?

Cool tidbits. I liked the overhead scoreboard thing but maybe I am old school in the minority so good to hear other like the new way

I think Williams will get some time at the point but regardless LJ is gonna play there as well. He’s too talented with the ball and he always finds a way to get it. Next years biggest recruit.

You are the board idiot. It doesn’t surprise me that you “never understood” anything.

He’s a glorified interior decorator who has fumbled nearly every main assignment that has come his way thus far.

There was one possession on Wed night where Williams brought the ball up and he was so out of control with the ball, that he actually turned himself around aimlessly with the ball. He cannot bring it up or we are done. Williams may become a solid scoring guard, but he has no PG skills that I’ve been able to recognize.

On the contrary he made a great drive and kick pass to an open 3 that was missed. I don’t think he has zero lead guard skills.

Williams is a true combo guard similar to that of Phil Greene. I think what we need him to be this year is simply a capable "ball handler"

Someone to handle pressure, not turn it over, and get the ball into Mustapha and LJ's hands in the half court.

I think we're all waiting for Greg to breakout into the 4 star All State player that he was in Louisiana. Extended minutes leading to confidence is necessary, IMA has to let him make mistakes and grow similar to Josh and Cell.
