Nice to get a comfortable W while playing everyone solid minutes.  That PG on Columbia can play.

Hope you aren’t giving up your mulling crusade. I need something to do tomorrow.
Are you mad we won?

I’m happy after every win. I don’t care much for Mullin, but my prior post explains why you have trouble understanding that.

Marcellus The Motor Earlington through five games is giving us 9 and 5 in just 16 minutes a game. He never stops.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

False. Completely and utterly false.

This coming from a guy who thought Williams would develop PG skills over time which will never happen. Yikes.

How many personalities do you have? Earlier in the day you wanted to build a statue for him. Now you don’t care about him. Did I miss a nuance?

This response actually makes me sad for you. Do you honestly think I was being serious about the statue?

You think Rutherford, a 5th-year senior who didn’t start at Monmouth, is a good Big East backup PG, but you are ready to close the book on Williams four games into his soph season after missing several weeks of practice due to injury?

Wow.

Wow.

I never said good, I said he's solid and adequate depth which is all we can really ask for this year.

Regarding Williams, injury or not, he can barely handle the ball when catching it as a wing let alone being any type of option at PG.

Nice win.  You cant take much from this as the competion was terrible outside of the pg.

Dunn is the best pg by far.  Not sure why CMA rolled out rutherford w/ the starters again.  But that needs to end now.  Dunn is the starting pg on this team.

Duke had another lunch pail game again today.

Big game saturday.  These got got us in the play in game last year.  They aint getting us again.

Go Johnnies!!!

Sad to say this was the most empty the gym has been since the end of the Norm years. Can't take much away from this game other than Dunn working off the rust and looking good.

I’m sure there are quite a few fans who are trying to get work done before holidays. Wednesday night in Queens for Columbia is hardly an exciting idea. And it wasn’t.

Did anyone happen to catch the halftime show on TV? The segment on St. John’s Mt. Rushmore was classic. Lavin was in full form selling DLO for a spot on the list. Plenty of name dropping. I hope Cragg establishes a link with our past players. You want to increase attendance, start there.

I love Earlington’s game. He’s rarely forcing shots, but others do pretty often, and there he is under the basket in perfect position for the offensive rebound. Unless my eyes deceive me, and they’re starting to, we haven’t had an offensive rebounder like Earlington in quite a while.

Who was our last great offensive rebounder? Bootsy Thornton was terrific. It was a tremendous skill that largely went unnoticed.

That was actually a repeat of the halftime segment they did during the UNH game, which some wag described thusly:

"Fox Sports 2 had four halftime analysts which I thought a bit of overkill for a Tuesday night preseason game until I learned that they were naming – wait for it – the Mount Rushmore of SJ’s basketball. That this turned out to be merely an opportunity for these dopes to shout out the names of random past players – Willie Glass! Bill Wennington! Sergio Luyk! – shouldn’t have come as a surprise, but it did. What didn’t come as a surprise was that histrionic personality disorder poster boy Steve Lavin opined that one of his players – D’Angelo Harrison – should be considered, as he might have been the school’s all-time leading scorer “if I hadn’t suspended him,” which statement allowed Lavin simultaneously to thrust himself into the center of the conversation while diminishing the accomplishments of one of the players directly responsible for his meager success. What a repulsive, repulsive person. No wonder Mary Ann cucked him."

Pretty dead on.

You want a Malik boothe type but at the same time you don’t. Boothe was a better defender. Offensively they are the same. Rutherford is bigger.

Not sure if you were serious. You say plenty of stupid things.

Boothe put it all together as a senior. He finally started to hit that 10 foot jumper, and like a senior, he was great at picking his spots. All season, all of our seniors were. I loved watching Boothe tear ND apart at MSG in 2011.

But with Rutherford I’m concerned that his skill level is so low that he can’t play at the BE level for us for more than 10-12 minutes a game. Only he’ll have to anyway.

I’m surprised that in 5 years time, he hasn’t at least learned one move or spot to shoot from on the court than he can rely on. I mean, give me a floater in the lane, or a ten foot jump shot.

Has anyone seen more from him than I have? To be clear, I’m not frustrated with his overall game. His defense has been a plus. But other than a few pretty good passes, he scares me if he’s out there too long.

It’s gotta be Dunn. He’s no Omar Cook, but he can get into the lane, and make things happen. Starting him at the 1 is the best chance we have to win anything this season.
