“You cannot expect any new coach to add much of anything” followed by “he was able to add Champaigne [sic]
and Dunn very late in the process.”

Do you see how hard you guys make it lately?
I can see where everything in life is hard for you. Fat lazy and stupid is no way to go through life son.  ;) :)

None of the freshman did anything last year. Saying that they would be playing as well as they are now or expecting them to not have transferred out is non sense.
Mack wasn’t coming. We had 0 players coming in. This team was guaranteed to finish Again in last place.
Dave- it’s kind of scary. I can only imagine how bad mullin was. You actually know the details. And you refuse to acknowledge what you saw.

What good program relies on freshmen outside of the top 100? What were you expecting. Earlington barely played in high school AAU and Robets was relatively new to the game, extremely raw, and too weak for major minutes.

Williams played almost exactly what he should have. I loved he promise of all three guys last year.

Champagnie is different in that he’s overly skilled for the position. He doesn’t have the physical ceiling that trio does.

He didn't inherit a next to last place roster. He didn't add much to existing team which caused it to become 9th place. This has nothing to do with previous staff by making this statement but if we had Cam Mack as our starting PG we'd probably be winning a game in NCAA Tournament.

The point being the team wasn't a dumpster fire but we failed to add significant pieces needed.

The problem is that Coach Anderson didn’t add a point guard at the level we’ve come to expect. He did bring in Champagnie and Dunn, and they are clearly good enough to play in the BE. If we look at who Roberts, Lavin and Mullin brought in at the 25th hour did anyone do better?

We are discussing 2 different things. I agree with your point. Dave made it seem like everything that has happened this year with our sophomores would have happened under the previous staff. I do not agree with that.
Champagnie reminds me of Donny Marshall. Maybe not as athletic. The kid is only a freshman. He is much better then he was even a month ago.

Dunn is fine at pg for the next 2 years.  The one issue I have w/ Anderson is his sticking w/ Rutherford as the starter.

This is where the lack of nuance and middle ground that has swept this board over the last few months is most apparent.

It is true that Mullin probably underutilized Roberts and should have found him minutes early on.

It is likely that Anderson, with a less complex system that is more friendly to raw athletic players, would have been able to better utilize Roberts. Earlington, however, wasn’t going to play for anyone last year.

It is also true that these guys would have improved as sophomores under Mullin. Roberts would be getting the same minutes under Mullin as there are no other options. Earlington would probably be playing more for the same reason.

Beyond consistently showing that you don’t understand the game of basketball, you are also impossibly mercurial. You rag on Dunn as a PG more than anyone and you will go right back to that once he messes up again.

Dunn is closer to a SF than a pure PG. He will benefit greatly from having McGriff and Posh next year. He’s a wild man. He can get by anyone at any time with his athleticism but he doesn’t have the pace or the skill set to handle the ball for large swaths of time.

He is best suited for a 20-25 minute role off the bench as a defensive specialist and offensive change of pace from the two and three spots with occasional spells at PG. He has no conscience out there—something I hope will rub off on Williams.

Since you are being human today. I will be equally as polite. Why would you expect any of the sophomores to get better? What players got better in the past?
Who would have gotten them better? What coach? Mitch would still be on staff here, do you think he would have gone the extra mile?
I agree that all 3 players fit Anderson’s system. Just like they are the opposite from what mullin would have been looking for. I believe Anderson go lucky with these 3. At the same time I don’t don’t understand why mullin recruited any of them. None are great shooters. Honestly I don’t know what mullin was trying to do at all.
Respectfully I don’t see any middle ground. Dwight hardy doesn’t happen without Steve Lavin.

It’s true that Dwight Hardy doesn’t happen without Lavin (probably Dunlap to be more accurate). That is more of an indictment on Norm Roberts being awful, though. Norm was 6-12 in conference with a 11 juniors and his best recruit, Mase Jr., as a 5th year senior. That was an NCAA tournament roster and Dunlap proved that the following year by turning them into a top 25 team sans Mase Jr.

Mullin was not as awful as Norm. He had two rosters that had any chance of making the tournament and he made one and was on his way to making the one the year before when Lovett and his imbecile father pulled their stunt. We were 6-1 with him and played Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon State, and UCF. All those teams won 19-22 games.

Fault him for the roster construction that led to us falling apart when Lovett left...that is fair. I think that team with Lovett was better than the tournament team the following year. Lovett was incredible on the court.

Shamorie Ponds improved a great deal under Mullin. Simon, while misused offensively, improved a ton and won defensive player of the year.

I thought Lovett was great also. But we didn’t play great with him. We killed Nebraska. Didn’t play well vs the other 3. We beat UCF, they were with out 2 starting guards if my memory is right. Then Lovett quits. I don’t know the story why he left.
Then 3 months later Owens and yakwe leave. Yakwe certainly didn’t get any better while he was here. Owens clearly got better last year at Texas tech.
You can’t give a coach a pass for all 3 players. Something wasn’t right here. Mullin earned his record.
To expect anything different in year 5 Makes no sense to me.

Dang.  The hall held on.

Maryland is very overrated.  They should have lost to Illinios a few weeks ago.  They will be out of the top 25 soon.

It’s a big win for SH without two starters, but yes, Maryland is not a good team. They have no business being ranked.

Villanova
Butler
Seton Hall
Marquette
Xavier
St. John’s
DePaul
Creighton
Georgetown
Providence

DePaul has started great but think they will fizzle out. Butler looks real good and has surprised me a lot. Believe it will finish like this.

Woo hoo! Seton Hall beats #7 Maryland without their best two players! That means the Big East is wide open! It's anyone's to win! If we go a modest 18-0 in conference and we can if Mr Bojangles and Jo Jo the Monkey boy play up to their potential watch out! Win a couple of games in the tourney and Coach Iron Mike's recruiting will go thru the roof! Looking forward to the start of the season! We are!

I dont know the year to year stats and obviously he did win defensive player of the year but stat wise I thought Simon was worse the last year ( I could totally be wrong on that just I remember watching and thinking damn I thought he would have had better year stat wise )
