We're a better team without Heron.

Yes I’m pretty sure I’m not going to compare Anderson to Nolan or Eddie. But also Mike has made the elite 8 and sweet sixteen, can’t take away that fact, and I have no clue if he can recreate that, this is the first time he has a new staff, he has had the same staff the first 16 years of coaching, and this staff he has now is heads above his previous staff. So we’ll see if the development of the returning players next year and the ones coming in will help, because Heron and LJ are the only ones that have have regressed, there’s no coincidence Anderson’s system helps when you have no go to guy in the game and the players play team ball and are defensive minded. (See Arizona, WVU, and Butler)

That's not remotely true. He hasn't had the same coaching staff for 16 years. Your youth and ignorance is showing.

If we're a better team without Heron...then we're not much of a team.

Without Heron we came back from 20 down and almost beat the #5 team in the country. We're a defensive minded team this year. The only thing we're missing is scorers and that falls squarely on Heron. Good players find a way to get theirs.

I don't think we're a better team without Heron. I just think Heron has not been playing well nor has the team.

No doubt.

Depends on which Heron you're referring to, Jekyl or Hyde

And the misses are all on the coach!

There's only Jekyl this year.

Tariq Owens, Justin Simon, Bashir Ahmed, Darien Williams, Marvin Clark, Mustapha Heron, LJ Figueroa

If you want to discredit you have to credit too. There were more positives than negatives. I've said this a ton that I thought our roster was too transient but I liked majority of the transfers we got.
Ownes left the team and got much better. Williams left the team. Ahmed was ok. Clarke WAS NOT a good BIG EAST player. Simon was very good.
Those guys didn’t just lose. For the most part they got destroyed. Give Credit for what?
Clarke was on scholarship 3 years. The team finished in 8th, last, and 7th place. That’s not kind of bad. Once again how many of those losses were blowouts?
Year 5 would have been without Matt. And we had 0 guys coming in. If mullin came back it would have set the program back 3 more years.

I don't think we're a better team without Heron. I just think Heron has not been playing well nor has the team.

The team looks to play as more of a cohesive unit without him in there, and LJ to a lesser degree.

Let's hope Heron turns it around but that's like hoping last year we'd flip the switch down the stretch and play better. Hope is not a strategy. At some point changes need to be made. It's not like he's leading us to key wins in conference. I think most would agree he's hurting us a lot. So what's the downside of giving other guys more minutes in his place?

Add that 6’10 forward, the tall SG Cole, Posh and McGriff, and yet another freak in Wasu and things could be much different.

Yeah adding more talented players usually does help especially when you inherit the worse roster in the conference.

FACTS!!!!!! This is what people are failing to realize. It’s not that Anderson is a great coach, he’s a good coach that’s 10 times better than the previous one. Its a matter of perspective.

When he's this bad?  Yeah.  Odd he's playing as a net negative with a new coach.  LJ looked awful the other day as well.  I don't like the concept of established players regressing, not sure about you.

I think you fail to comprehend that losing by 1 is the same as losing by 40 unless you're betting on the games.

And if instead of Haldeman and Erhlichman -  Nixon had Goofy and Donald Duck he wouldn't have resigned following Watergate.

I think we should all try to come to some sort of common sense resolution about this controversial issue that we keep going around in circles on. Admittedly, I've played no small part in this. You guys know how I love me some circles.

This statement SJUFAN has made may be true. It's just that on 1/17/20, there is no proof of that and scarcely any evidence.

I hereby solemnly pledge, on my bong - crack pipe - and bottle of Crown Royal, that if it is at some point revealed that CFC is a better St. John's coach than Chris Mullin - I will be the first one to admit it.

Signed sincerely,
CA

How can the worse roster in the conference have 20% of it's top 10 returning players?

Heron scored 28 and 20 and averaged 6 boards against essentially the same Butler roster last year—after being named All-SEC Second Team twice and leading a 26-win first place SEC team in scoring as a soph.

But it’s all on him now and not Anderson🙄

Why respond to someone who doesn’t know when to use worse and worst? This maniac was talking NCAA tournament two weeks ago with the same roster.
