Steere gone. Any major program going to give him a shot - he’s played, what, like a dozen games in 3 years?

Major? They shouldn’t, but we’ll see how desperate both parties are. Maybe Nebraska?

I think ends up at some shit mid major like North Carolina A&T.

If you can call averaging about 3 minutes of PT per game as playing. Basically he has zero playing experience.

With Steere and Sears moving on I heard that McGriff is on his way out, I don’t know why but there is a lot of talent at the guard spots the next few years, we really need to pick up Rand, and a wing player.

I’m sure Matt was on the phone with Steere a month or so ago.

I could see that. ZB saying one more transfer is likely. I’d think it has to be McGriff or caraher

Anderson will have tons of room to add his guys now with Sears and Steere out and LJ a long shot to return.  I would have preferred we kept Sears, but this isn't the system for him. My guess is he goes to a top D2.  No way he graduated here.  SJU makes you take over 50% of your credits at SJU and that includes weird mandatory classes like 9 credits of philosophy and theology.

Am I correct that D2, is only partial athletic scholarships (and financial aid if merited)?

If you go down to D2, do you still need to sit out or are you immediately eligible?

D-2 is full scholarship. You can also play immediately coming down from D-1. As I’ve said, there is no way Sears is graduating with a degree from St. John’s in one year.

I don’t want Caraher going anywhere and don’t expect him too. Like everything about him for his role on the team.

+1

Don’t really want to see Mcgriff leave either.  Find a big that can play C for 20 or so minutes.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

McGriff leaving would make no sense and would suck. He can easily win the starting PG spot. He has better PG skills than Posh even if he isn’t as dynamic.

His year here + help from Dunn would really help mitigate some of the problems of having a true freshman PG like Posh.

Good points....I really want Mcgriff to stay also.....he is a true PG and from what I’ve seen on video, he fits this system perfectly....

Caraher's easily replaceable. McGriff? Not so much. We need true PG's here.

SJU has a hard time finding PG's and big men in recent history. The struggle is real. McGriff and Posh would be a very solid 2 headed monster at the point.

It's no longer about replacing individual players...it's about continuity. You don''t want half your roster to be learning the system and getting used to the university at the same time. Caraher has more to offer than a slightly better new player.

It's about both. You can mesh new players into the system, it's done all the time. If it came down to McGriff or Caraher as currently constructed, who would you rather have?

We need PG's to get Anderson's program to the next level.

I'm less concerned about which bench players are leaving and more concerned about bringing in another legit player. As it stands now the 20-21 roster is not good enough to break into the top half of the Big East regardless of whether Caraher and/or McGriff stay. I haven't seen us mentioned with any of the good transfers available but hopefully the staff has some irons in the fire.

McGriff like Sears should have never been signed in the first place. This was my initial outrage with the recruiting last year.

Recruiting is going to be even harder as this staff relies on diamonds in the rough and with no opportunities to evaluate we're going to be in trouble.

He is scared to shoot. He cant help on offence unless plays are run for him. Does that sound like our coach. If he can guard and rebound for a few minutes, ok.
