This is kind of it. I got killed when I said Anderson would be what Seth Greenberg was to VA Tech. Not an insult in the slightest but the floor raises and ceiling doesn't rise.

The core of the team all bouncing happened a year later than I expected. Every guy who left was on the fence the year before too. The swing and misses on Sears, McGriff, Cole, Toro should be criticized just as much as hits of Champagnie, Posh, Wasu should be praised.

Next year isn't a complete wash but will be a stop gap year in year 3.

It's April 4th. There are still 6 or scholarships to fill and 1500+ kids in the transfer portal. To already declare that next season will be a stop gap year is completely ridiculous. It's way too early to say one way or another how next season is shaping up until we see the quality of players the staff brings in to fill these scholarships.

It's totally possible the staff fills out the roster with a bunch of mediocre rotational players that probably can't handle major minutes at the Big East level. If thats how the roster looks in June/July then yes CMA and this staff will deserve flak for taking a step back rosterwise in year 3 when it should have a been a step forward year with a solid foundation in place. However, it's also possible the staff finds a starting caliber 5 and wing to go along with Posh, Smith and Julian which would make us a real contender in the Big East.

Conceding that next season will be a step back in early April in this new free agency era is like giving up on a game because you're down 8-4 at the under 16 media timeout.

Being a stopgap year has nothing to do whether we land the best transfers or the worst. It's 1 year.

We're going to have over half our team filled with freshman, transfers or spring signees. We have 3 returning players on the roster as of now?!?! Posh, Wasu, Champagnie

Agreed, it's not great. But seriously speaking, how many teams are significantly in a better position than us in terms of keeping their own players for next year. Rutgers just made the tournament and they are having a mass exodus over there as well. You're comparing the exodus that has occurred here to what would be normal in any other offseason prior to this one. It seems bad if you look at it in a vaccuum but plenty of teams are experiencing something close to what we are

There's no way around it, anytime you lose potential seniors it hurts the program. I didn't like seeing it become standard under Mullin, and this is concerning, too.

If we lose Champ, Wusu, or Posh, we're in big trouble. However, if they all return, I expect to make the tournament.

Yes, it's only three returning players, but it's not like we lost Walter Berry. Stef Smith and Aaron Wheeler will be great role players. They have experience and they are both NCAA tournament vets.

Face the facts that yes we will suck yet again with our inadequate, inexperienced collection of misfit toys led by our latest chipped painted pony reaching but never catching that elusive brass ring on this never stopping coaching carousel.

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion (notwithstanding the propaganda promulgated by  mainstream and social media outlets that casts differing views as ignorant, racists, etc.), so here's mine:  I disagree with Carmine.  As long as Posh, Wasu and Champ return, this team is better next year.  And by better, I mean we should make the tourney.  I believe CMA will get adequate replacement parts that will compliment this terrific nucleus of kids.  Guess we will see....

It's frustrating, but we have to take a step back. These kids are getting a chance they have not been given before. It's a chance to have a different college experience, in most cases, just for a year before they head off to Europe. We lost a lot, but we were going to lose a few guys anyway.

So far, the two latest additions are as good, or better than what we lost. The sky is hardly falling, and frankly, the sun could start to peak through if we can ever land a darn big man with hands who doesn't think he's a three point shooter.

It's rarely good news to lose this many players, but I don't think any of the players in the portal are hard to replace individually.  I'd like to hold onto Williams and Dunn.  The Vermont kid should be as good or better offensively, but I don't know if he can guard. His assist stats seem oddly low for a 6'2 kid too.

I find it hard to believe that Painter and Stanley can't come in day one and better than Moore and Earlington.

I think Kadary Richmond would fit extremely well with Posh (and Wusu). They are both very versatile players. I think he's an NBA player.

We really need to win the transfer game this year.

It's too early to say that.  If we return Posh, Wusu, and Champ and add a player like Richmond or Champ's brother -- we could be very good. This isn't a complicated system.

The year 2000 was more than 20 years ago.  I can make statements like that because I have a ton of sad history on my side.

It's not that hard. People are overcomplicating this offseason for whatever reasons.

This team was solid this year. I said that we needed to add a few big men, a shooter and a backup PG.

Well Nyiwe, Stanley, Traore and Wheeler should more than make up for the loss of Moore, Roberts and Earlington in the post. In fact I think the new frontcourt will be better and bigger than last year's version.

I think Smith will match, and probably exceed the contribution of Cole in the backcourt.

At this stage another PG would really be my final ask (and one more big but that's being greedy I know).

We have the Core 3. All these pieces should support them nicely. And there could be one or two surprises out of this group that play a bigger role next year.

It's really not. I don't know why so many people are making it so. I like what we've done so far to surround Champ, Posh and Wusu. Justin would be an amazing add. If we can't get him, then I'd at least settle for a good backup PG addition and I think we'll be better next year with what we got.

This is aggravating. Anderson has to close the deal on kids like this. Losing highly ranked NYC kids to SH is unacceptable. Both teams in the national championship game started two PGs.

Unfortunately it's par for the course with this staff. They won't win recruiting wars.

Take it for what it's worth, but some kid on Twitter is saying that Posh is exploring his options and has already visited schools. I don't go on there much but a friend texted me about it. Not sure how credible it is, if at all.

It's not. People on Twitter like to claim they have sources when in reality they are just making guesses, sometimes educated, sometimes not. People also like to stir the pot and post nonsense like that to gain more followers. Unfortunately too many people in our fanbase buy into this nonsense.

Posh transfers to Syracuse. Julian transfers to UConn. Wusu to Iona just because.

This is my biggest complaint with Anderson and company.  You have to  dominate the grad-transfer -- and this year, the entire transfer -- market. I felt strongly that we were only a few grad-transfers away from a tournament berth when he took over and had LJ and Heron plus Greg Williams, Earlington, Roberts, etc. But he came up completely empty-handed.  That is wild for a guy with his resume.  He literally has multiple Final Fours and a NATIONAL Championship as a lead assistant and an Elite Eight as a head coach. How do you not leverage that into big time transfers right away when 40% of your starters are all-league caliber and the team was a month removed from the NCAA tournament?
