Put stats aside and just go by what we saw. We both agreed he was ridiculous year one. I’m sure we’d both agree — along with every other reasonable and honest poster — that he was very disappointing last year. He took extremely deep shots far too often last year and in mostly bad spots. Heron was arguably worse.

We looked better without them when lesser basketball players took their minutes. Some people will just blindly blame the players for that. Mustapha Heron didn’t magically stop becoming an all-league lock.

You and the fit stuff are becoming too much. You were also same guy who said no matter how good any of the players in Anderson’s first class become it will still be an awful recruiting job because their could have been better players out there. Still feel that way? Where was fit then?

LJ shot terribly last year. He isn’t a number one and he was forced to be. He took bad shots and in addition he also may have just had a poor shooting season. Guys do have bad shooting seasons. Dunn and Williams both shooting much better this year than last year, were they not a good fit last year in the system?

LJ was disappointing because of his fantastic play the year before. You’re gonna pretend like you’ve seen him a bunch over at Oregon this year? He’s scoring less than ever before. Yes he’s rebounding at a great rate, you gonna say the boards are part of the system? Well how about the steals and the defense he played under Anderson.

Forget Heron. He was just as disappointing under Mullin as he was Anderson.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Heron was one of the most decorated returning seniors in program history. He was a five star recruit, two-time second team SEC selection, and a preseason all conference selection with LJ. LJ was a top 100 recruit, had an amazing first year at St. John’s, and is scoring double-digits and leading a tournament team, Oregon of the Pac-12, in rebounds this year.

Do you think certain players don’t fit certain systems better than others? That’s insane. Would Freemantle be just as good on Phi Slamma Jamma to you? Why do coaches try to dictate pace and style of play?

I’m not sure what your point is, but Mike Anderson would be the first person to tell you he looks for certain types of players.

My point was and still is that I think Freemantle would be just fine in Anderson's system.

You questioned, slammed and ripped Anderson for his first recruiting class. Looks like it was a lot better than what you and a few others expected it would be thanks in large part to Mike Anderson.

Where is Heron now?

Is a Boise State win better than a Utah State win? It’s gotta be pretty close.

Boise completes the sweep. Going off Lunardi’s bracket both teams directly in front of us lost tonight. A lot of games this weekend. Time to Take care of our own business tomorrow.

Indiana back on the bubble with a loss to Michigan State. Michigan State could be bubble relevant again with a couple more wins. Kentucky, too

Anderson not going to get his team into the NCAA tournament in an incredibly weak Big East, by its standards. Just wow

See, the problem is what you are attributing to me as the basis of your reply is not true. I never said that his class would not be good because he didn’t land top recruits. I took time to explain that I didn’t have a problem with any single recruit he brought in AND even acknowledged his success finding good players in less competitive markets (e.g., JUCO).

What I said was that I was disappointed in the class overall due to the lack of star power. I believe there are several top 50 or 100 recruits that could help us a lot. Do you disagree with that statement?

I do believe there are players that certain coaches and certain styles better than others. I can’t imagine anyone would disagree with that.

“This staff hasn’t done much in terms of recruiting. The 2019 class was horrific. It doesn’t even matter if they fit the system and ends up contributing. I refuse to believe that there weren’t much better players that also fit the system.”

Of course there are high “rated” recruits that would play well in Andersons system. My point from day one with him is to let him recruit his own guys regardless of rankings. So far so good.

And of course there are certain players who play better in some systems than others. I think you overplay it.

Do you think we are a better team if Freemantle was playing 25 minutes at center for us? I think the better question would be how much better would we be.

Is it your position that we couldn’t be MUCH better with top  75 talent over the guys we got? The 2019 class was horrific. How many different ways can I say that I don’t mind anyone individually but not fond of recruiting collectively? I just don’t understand how coach with Anderson’s resume can’t get top 50 kids like Lavin did. Posh is the only heralded recruit he landed and that kid looks freaking amazing.

We were in a position to dance last year with a great recruiting class in the grad-transfer era. We didn’t get any meaningful grad-transfers OR JUCOs. That is a complete fail in my book.

I gave Anderson a ton of credit for Champagnie when I was done throwing my hissy fit over the lack of grad-transfers/JUCOs before the season even started. October 23, 2019:  “I'm extremely impressed with Champagnie showing up at 220 lbs and a legit 6'7.  I hate him as a SF, but I'm very intrigued to see what he can do as a versatile four.” And that just grew exponentially very quickly.

I give him serious props for finding guys like Wusu and being able to use guys other schools can’t.  I just don’t get why he can’t get elite recruits. It’s frustrating.

As for Freemantle...I think he’d be extremely disappointing here. He’d  transfer out in a year.

I’ve been extremely critical of Mike Anderson.  What is important is next two games need to be won and have good showing in Big East Tournament. I think next season is make or break. Expectations will be high considering the players returning. NCAA Tournament and winning a game should be expected. Also bringing in a quality 2022 recruiting class. The program I believe 5 scholarships or more open.

Some people on these boards are hilarious and just don't get it. Anderson is ahead of schedule. The team has improved markedly, chemistry and record wise in his 2nd year vs his first. He already has as many BE wins in Year 2 as the previous regime ever had in any single season and he stands a good shot at eclipsing that mark in this season with several chances ahead.

This season was NOT a failure by any stretch. I said by Year 3 I expect Anderson to make the tourney and I still see it playing out that way. All in all it's been a good season. We're most likely not making the dance but the team has been fun to watch overall.

Enjoy the ride and next year should be even better.

Huge game Saturday win and we guarantee ourselves a 4/5 matchup with X or seton hall.....then on novas side of bracket with no gillipsie (feel awful for him).

Could potentially still finish 7th so need to come out firing....I think 2 more wins might do it ALOT of bubble teams losing....just keep winning.

- can’t believe an inbounds pass might keep us out 😢

All in All being on the bubble in March with 9 big east wins potentially get 10 and 4 seed is a great position to be in.
