Our roster is significantly better than last year. On paper we don't appear to have any weaknesses. Maybe I'm alone in this but I think Posh is going to make a huge jump and we'll have two all BE players, surrounded by the most complete and versatile roster in a long time. More then half the team are nyc or surrounding area kids, chemistry will come naturally.
- I love the Soriano signing and think he is a significant upgrade. But we needed a center regardless of who stayed and who left. Really excited for him.
- Love the Smith signing. We needed shooting next to Posh and he has shown over his career to be a really good one. And more than that.
- The Mathis and Wheeler signings I like. They have size and athleticism plus BIG10 experience on NCAA teams. I am however not sure they are upgrades over Williams and Earlington. Defensively I could see it. Offensively you could make the case, but IMO it’s not a definite upgrade there. Their shooting %’s are closer to scary than they are exciting.
- I think we are a backcourt difference maker away from calling this a “definite” upgraded roster but that’s just my opinion. Right now we brought in two backcourt players who both had more turnovers than assists last year. And that was in slower paced more meticulous offensive systems. In our uptempo system, all of Dunn, Williams, Wusu, and Posh had more assists than turnovers. Just something worth mentioning IMO.
Think the staff has done a good job in this crazy atmosphere and excited to see if the next piece has the potential to put us over the top.
