"flashes of brilliance, but also can be inconsistent with decision making"... that sounds like Geno!

Geno was a 2 guard to me playing the 1.

Grace seems like a true 1.
That's a good way of looking at Geno's game - though he did have some court vision.  Really, he didn't have a position, not in the Big East, anyway.

I'd love to see St. John's bring in two different-styled point guards in this class, and maybe an undersized shooting guard.  Change of pace guys - one bruiser, one speedster.

We have a lot of ships to give...he would be a real nice start.

Yeah and younger, but Grace isn't getting recruited by Wake Forest or Louisville-so, therefore, he is far more attainable for the current staff. With nine scholarships available, they can take afford to be open-minded.

These are actually relatively good scouting reports:
Hinds:

ESPN

Grace:

NTSG, they're under the "Insider" barrier - if you can, post some text?  Thanks!

Davontay Grace has pulled the trigger and is headed to the Big East.

A 6-foot, 215-pound junior point guard from Brooklyn Thomas Jefferson, Grace orally committed to St. John’s and can sign with the school in November.

If he's anything like Lavance Fields we should all be ecstatic. Still bitter he wasn't in the red and white.

Tom Konchalski (whose opinion that I greatly respect) had some pretty good things to say about Grace via Zagsblog.

Welcome aboard, Grace!  Let's keep the ball rolling and look to snag some other solid players from the 2011 class.
