As of right now, where would you place the 2009 class compared to the best of the mid-majors?

9-10 rank in the mid majors if we were one i think

he's not even in some top 100 lists.  he's not top 20 material.  he's a good get, but he's not amazing/top 20 material at all.

Best storyline to watch

Keep an eye on the Lance Stephenson recruitment. Basketball mavens in New York believe that the Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln star could join St. John's if he doesn't pursue a European career next year, a la Brandon Jennings.

Stephenson has been on St. John's campus often this year, and coach Norm Roberts and his staff are working hard to keep the local star.

If Stephenson does decide for college and does decide on St. John's, Stephenson will be the prized recruit who has eluded Roberts since he took over the fragile program.

I don't value scout lists what so ever. Take a look over the past 5 years how many non top 150 kids are playing in the NBA right now. Even though I don't take stock in the lists he was top 50 and then the kid had a shoulder injury and now he sucks all of a sudden. Its pretty bogus.

The top 5 classes on that list are better than most outside the top 40 large schools.

With that said, I might rank SJU 6th, right behind LaSalle & Murray,
although we could argue that ours matches w any in that top 5.

I am very happy w the future of watching Omari & Dwight.

And St. John gotta get better in the trenches.

Lance is the best player in NYC.  He's definitely top 10-20 in the country.  Mentally he can be a bit too unstable at times during the games.  But he's a real physical spicemen.  He really reminds me of Lebron James, in that he powers his way to the basket and is tremendous at finishing.  He has to work on his jump shot to be a successful pro though.  I don't think he's a lock to be a NBA player...

Kevin Parrom and Durand Scott are both very good.  I think both and Omari are on the level, which is probably around 45-70.  I don't think they are program changer, in that if either one came here we would be immediate contenders for the NCAA tourney (unlike Lance), but I do think they will be very good players once they a junior/senior.  For Scott, I can even see him being a surprise as a freshman, and defintely good as a sophomore.  But I doubt they can be stars right away like Kemba Walker.

I've only seen Lamont Jones once, so I can be wrong.  But I don't see him as a real high level/great get, like the others above.  If I had to rank him i'd probably say somewhere in the range of 100-150.    He will probably be a decent bench player, but I do'nt see him has a great impact player.

Trust me, I'm thrilled Omari is coming.  It's Norm's best recruit.  But he's not 25 material.  I just don't see him being a great impact player right away like Lance.

I would love to know how many the "recruiting gurus" from scout/rivals actually see.  They should indicate the players they've watched in person and how many times.

it's honestly more of a general assumption/grading type thing w/ me personally.  if ur in the top 25 u should be a program changer and/or great player.  and that's something i'm sure omari isn't.

you are right.  i forgot that if we would have beaten BC, we'd have faced oklahoma. 

with kemba, i think we would have prob beat BC, and lose to Purdue (would be close), and then beat UAB.

kemba is going to be a sensational player at uconn

That had to be Fraschilla broadcasting.  The guy uses the word "adjudicated" ever game he does--pay attention.  Only laywers and criminals use that word, and he's no lawyer.
