Better with Quincy at the Point?

At times tonight it looked like Boothe was overmatched and ineffective, and certainly cantt shoot. Is St Johns better off with Quincy at this point?

Quincy would have turned it over as well.  Boothe honestly disappointed me.  He did exactly the thing he needed to not do - drive to the basket like he's an offensive star and take a lot of shots.  He took 12 shots!

Of all of norm's recruiting woes, the lack of a backup (or starting) pg to go w malik is most glaring. Pmg was right - we have no BE caliber pg and only one true pg. Malik best serves as a backup and quincy is no sg. It is mind-boggling that we don't have a pg signed for next year either.

That's all I kept thinking as I was watching the game last night.

Hopefully Omari is good enough to run an offense.
Boothe would be an asset if he played 8-10 minutes a game.

A team that is known for not defending came out created a mess for us.

We are better with DJ Kennedy at PG at this point like Poison said Boothe at 8-10 would be great but he is not a Big East starting PG and I knew that every since he committed to this program. He was not good in H.S. he was just average.I know People are going to say well he is hurt, I will tell them he always plays like this aganist a high-mid major.

Thing is, Boothe has some ability.  If he shores up the shot and the team has/ can execute a better game plan, we wouldn't be piling on Boothe.  A non-offensive point is not ideal, but the way he played last night catered to his weaknesses. 

But maybe DJ should work on his handle and court vision this summer.  He and Quincy would get worked by smaller guards on defense, but coaching can compensate for that.

DJ is the only player we have with court vision. If anyone should work on their game, it's Boothe. He starts the offense at half court. Gets rid of the ball, and he isn't running the offense anymore.

With his size, he should be breaking down guards with the dribble and finding the open man. He isn't doing that. I'm not looking for him to a great, or even good scoring guard, that's not the guy we signed, all of us know that, but that said, what does he do well?

Defense? No.
Rebound? No.
Play make? No.

Yea i am sure Boothe was average, Mr. Walker Brooklyn all day held it down at CTK. I know CTK was one of the top teams in the city when he was on the team so I said he was average.

It is no surprise that our best win came when he was injured. I hate to complain about the Kid because his effort is 2nd to none  and that is what you like to see from any player on a team that you root for  but from what I have seen he would be a good back up PG in any program just not a starter.

Boothe made Erv look good he made larry look good. I've seen malik play since 8th grade. I was there every summer when he was locking up corey and Sosa he'll I was on the sidelines coaching for those games. U selling malik short because he is the only guard on a team that isn't playing up to their potential. To say malik boothe didn't hold Christ the king down is crazy my dude just crazy

And dj has no court vision. Tyshwan actualy does but he isn't strong enough to get the passes off

DJ is good looking for teammates on the drive, but he can improve; but from the perimeter... KOB is right.  DJ's got to work on that.

There is no question Malik is better at the point. He had a bad game against SH but he was coming off an injury and lay-off. He proved his mettle against the Louisville press. We have no back-up PG. Roberts did not play point against Louisvalle because the coaching staff recognizes that. I think Roberts can be a good player somewhere, but on this team it will be awfully hard for him to get minutes next year. I see Roberts, Edmundsen and Wait as placeholders, and would not be surprised to see 2 or all of them transfer out next year, depending on who else we recruit.
