Cincinnati,Seton Hall and West Virginia?
« on: April 14, 2009, 02:28:42 PM »
Can these be the top 3 in the standings come March 2010? Seton Hall loses Paul Gause and Mike Davis, thats it! West Virginia loses Alex Ruoff. Cincy loses Mike Williams.
How weird will it be without a UConn,Cuse,Louisville,Pitt etc at the top of the Big East? Now, lets go get Lance and make a move to the top tier of the conference

I think you're way underestimating Villanova, Louisville, Georgetown, and potentially UConn depending on who leaves.

Mike Williams has another year of eligibility left.  Not sure if he's leaving.

Don't forget Nova in that group either.  I think those are the top four for sure at this point.

It will be weird not seeing Pitt, Uconn, and Louisville DOMINATING the conference.  None of those teams will be slouches, though, but this is still a good year pickup a talent like Lance and make a run int the top five.

Why are you so sure they won't improve?  They have a MUCH better coach and they legitimately were young with talent.

If they bring back Monroe, they should be better than us.

The Hall gonna get a talent upgrade, but they is so many playaz comin in who gotta compete wit the upperclassman from this year that it could have problems wit chemistry.

Sides they coach aint the kind who instill unity. Loves playin brothers against each other wit mind games and politics. Seriously wacked.

So Sophomores becoming Juniors doesn't help significantly?  If not, then why are we going to improve?  You hate on georgetown just bc we beat them twice but they were mentally done...their team manager only brought one shirt to NY with them...chemistry had died...diff season, more experience in the youngsters - I would pretty much guarantee GTown to be a bubble team or better next year if Monroe stays.

But saying they are young is not an excuse. Norm gets killed here all the time for saying we're young. They have All Americans, 2 who were sophomores-who will be juniors. Youre right, we did beat them twice in a week and if we were how bad everyone says were-how bad was Georgetown? Now they lose a 14 point scorer. Monroe averaged 8 shots a game, thats awful, thats a terrible coaching job.

Then why not come out and lambast Norm for doing the same with Justin Burrell?

You are a hypocrite Baldi.  You can't take one approach for st johns and an opposite for georgetown.  You like going against the grain.  Both coaches did bad jobs with certain things this season --- but if you ask me which team and coach I'd want to back if I had the choice of either...then I'd get all of those gtown players and JTIII in red in a heartbeat.

Monroe was an All American and projected 1st rounder-is Burrell? Burrell needs to work on his hands an low post moves. He gets himself stuck underneath the basket alot. Monroe is 6'10.

You said the Gtown team had no chemistry, had nothing left mentally and the manager brought 1 shirt to the tourney. Now let me ask, whose fault is all the above? We started 5 sophomores most of the year, they started a senior,junior,2 All American sophomores and an All American stud freshman  center-but yet they were young?

I'll take our juniors and we will beat them again this year

I agree.  Baldi, you are such a hypocrite.  You KILL G'town at every chance you get and their best player was a freshman.  I think Summers actually hurt that team.

And nobody is making excuses for that team.  We all hate them if anything, but are offering an unbiased preview of next season.  If they were my team, I'd be pissed.  They underachieved, but you know what?  It was ONE YEAR for a coach that already has made a Final Four. You give him the benefit of the doubt.  He has earned that.

Norm is a much different story.  He doesn't have McDonald's All-Americans and he has NEVER won anywhere in his life.

If you really are unable to see that G'town could be very good next year, than I feel sorry for you.

Again Marillac, you are correct. Norm doesnt have any All Americans,Georgetown has 3 and a coach with final 4 experience(with Eschericks players). But Norm figured out how to beat this team with All Americans and a final 4 coach twice in a week. Summers is leaving, rightfully so-because JT3 isnt doing the kid any favors and he would watch his stock plummet if he stayed the same way Hibberts did. Hibbert should have left with Jeff Green and Monroe should jet with Summers

Baldi...you do realize that getting McDAA's is a GOOD thing right. You act like we should judge each coach only on how he does with the talent he has.  The COACH is the one who brings in the talent!

Also all these all-americans were young --- you used that excuse even this year for st johns so you gotta use it for gtown too.

Gtown could be better than us, could be the same, could be worse, but if I had to bet, I'd go with the same or better...there's no way they are worse next year...

According to some posters getting a McDAA (Stephenson) is a bad thing for St. John´s.

I am definitely one of the posters that thinks Lance Stephenson playing for St. John's next season will prove to be a disaster for the team.

I would much rather see the team get a player like Kevin Parrom, if he becomes available.

A coach with a Final Four + three young McDonald's All-Americans + good recruiting all around = a reason to believe that it was just a down year for a young team that needs experience.

If Georgetown sucks again this year, that is saying MUCH more.  Every coach and team goes through one down year hear and there.  That is how you can tell the great coaches from the average:  it is just ONE YEAR.

Even Rip Hamilton's Uconn team was sub .500 in the Big East their freshman year with Rashamel Jones and Ricy Moore as sophs.  They went on to win the national championsh.  Also, look at this Final Four Uconn team that finished BELOW St. John's just two years ago.

Let's do our formula:

A coach who is a proven loser at every leve + a roster of recruits that most Big East teams didn't pursue intensely or at all = Who knows????
