Well this is unfortunate and mostly unfortunate for Mr. Phil Wait. I think the staff was caught by surprise by him losing a year of eligibility due to his age. Him graduating the same year as everyone else basically shot himself in the foot. I think he had some potential but unfortunately the state of the program and his graduating year there was just no room.

I don't think the program loses out here what so ever due to the fact Rob Thomas showed he can still ball last year and play some solid minutes at the PF. A rotation of Burrell, Evans, Thomas, and Coker is fine. Also I think we can run small with Mason JR. playing a little 4 next year...seriously don't rule that out.

I think this is definitely addition by subtraction this frees up a scholarship to be used for a PG whether thats Stith, Armstead, or Parrom(if he happens to be released from Xavier).

If you want to go on and on about the transfer rate...whatever but I'd rather trim the fat and add more muscle to our program. I wish the best to Phil Wait and I hope all his academic credits transfer to his next institution of learning.

C'mon now.

Thats what all y'all said bout Dex and Ced and Ricky and Cav. We can get ourselves better players.

How'd that work out?

Off that list I think Ced is the only player I wish wouldn't have transferred but I think he wouldn't have done as well under Norms program anyways.  I think almost every time we have upgraded when guys have left vs. guys coming in but it doesn't really matter because it hasn't been a considerable upgrade.  Until we start landing the big time recruits we will continue to see players come and go every year.

I think if the staff was more patient about giving out scholarships (and, of course, found more guys who could play point guard in a pinch) transfers could lead to better players.  After all, Ricky and Avery's schollies turned into Sean Evans and DJ Kennedy, so you can't say that transfers have worked out for the worse.

Except, of course, for continually having a "young" team and creating an air of tumult in the program.

But generally... the staff needs to know/ evaluate who's going to make a real impact, and with Wait and more importantly TyShwan, they really crapped the bed on those commits.

I suppose there'll never be good news like "Stith is a real steal."  But it stands to reason - teams are hungry for help at the point and it doesn't seem like Stith has raised his profile very much... KOB, you hear anything about Stith's flaws?  Is he not quick enough?

Then again, it seems like some teams are pretty into Armstead (or at least, Iowa is, which doesn't say much)...

Not that John Calipari should ever be viewed as the ethical litmus test, but it's not that far off from what Calipari has done since arriving at UK.

Whenever there's a coaching change there's going to be a cycle of transfers in the first year or 2, but this cycle at St. John's has been going on for all 5 years of Norms tenure.

he should stay and get a degree...someone would be happy to have him, and if u can stay here and play basketball and get a free education, why go back...and under the right coach and right situation he might develop into a good player, you never know...im sure he'll find a home in the maac or nec

I contacted the coaches over at Monmouth to let them know about Phil Wait. Cazonetti's brother is an assistant over there and Rutledge's kid plays there they should have enough contacts to find out whatever they need about Phil Wait. I know he'd fit in nicely with their team and by next year they should be pretty talented.
