you can start voting today on redstormsports for a new mascot. nothing up yet but i cant wait to see what they thought of

Just use one of the local NYC weatherman (Storm Fields...old school) and he can be the new mascot. He would need a red pinstripped pimp suite with a red hat. Just ask Clyde Frazier for one of his old outfits. Mascot idea is laughable!!!

I voted for the Thunder Bird

I picked the Bolt , but the G.S. Warriors mascot would be ideal.

1) What is a thunder bolt?  I know what a lightning bolt looks like, but never seen a thunder bolt...someone enlighten me.

2) Why the hell are dog and bear options?

3) Isn't a thunderhorse our previous mascot?

Red Storm was a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMpsttlXye8&feature=relateded choice of nickname, and one of the big reasons is, mascot is impossible!  Should have just made us the Redbirds - Louisville was not yet in the Big East so who would have cared?

Norm Troopers should be the mascot!

In reality, what would be wrong with Storm Troopers as the mascot - except painted red?  I think that'd be kinda cool.

I chose the Thunderbird even tho it looks a lil bit like a luchador... but i culd see that possibly taking on a life of its own at STJ in the future kinda like Rockchalk maybe... i wouldnt be mad if we ended up with that thunderbolt thing tho either

That thunderbird looks so embarrassing.  Not as bad as "Storm Hero," though.  Aren't there creative people in NYC that they can hire to come up with a cool and unique mascot idea?

And yeah, I thought "Thunder the Horse" was the old mascot.  Whip that out again.

They could just change the name to the Red or the Reds.

I saw in voiting there is a write in option so maybe we can be creative for once or do what deadspin.com says and let Lance choose, I prefer the bird only because the description of it says they thought of it with ties back to the Redmen days and we can have a flapper on the sidelines just like the SJU hawk and if we ever face SJU, we could have a MMA fight before the game between mascots for the right to the bird

Seriously, why not just rename the team the Reds?

Or if they want a cute mascot, how about a guy is a storm could outfit (would look like the Michelin Man)?  Why an animal, anyway?

The search for a new mascot was on most if not all the Big East messageboards.  How about Chief Laughing Stock?

i just feel bad for the student who actually gets to wear it. if i remember correctly in 04ish they had tryouts and nobody showed. thats when they stopped. but that was just a rumor i heard

I think it was back in 03 when Thunder was AWFUL except for like two games he was the best mascot ever.  They either switched people (had to be) or the kid wearing the costume went to mascot boot camp, because he was incredible.
