I must say I hope it doesn't happen but it very well could. The staff has dropped the ball on Parrom and our eggs are all in Lance's basket. If we lose out on him we get our Ty and Phil Wait all over again. I'm very angry today

You mean we get a project center from a basketball cool-bed in Europe and a dude who can't play in the Big East?

Well not exactly but my point is we strike out on the studs and settle on the crumbs who won't amount to anything.

Get use to it, Dave!  To be honest, I wasn't confident in landing Parrom and I'm even less confident in landing Stephenson.

No offense Dave, but why would you have expected anything different?

This staff can't close...OR coach.  Period.  Time to cut our losses.

No offense to you either but you don't know a lot of things that have gone on and are going on behind the scenes. What you read isn't always exactly whats happening. Also I won't elaborate on this statement.

Also there is NOTHING you could tell me that was going on behind the scenes that would make my statement any difference - if we end up without Parrom or Lance, the staff can't close.  There's an excuse to be made EVERY time we lose someone.  Player X loved upstate NY.  Player Y wanted out of the city.  Player Z got a tractor for his mom.  Bla bla bla.  It all equates with us missing on every top 50 player we have ever tried for - and every top 100 except for Justin - who if we hadn't been on him since he was basically in the womb, we wouldn't have gotten.

What Dave is referring to is Norm has promised to upgrade to Pepperoni Pizza for the Jungle kids if Dave agrees to shine a night light on the cemetary that is SJU basketball under Norm.

I'm fine with you not telling - I just dont understand how you say to me "you dont know what goes on behind closed doors" in response to me saying we should cut ties.  I took that as you disagreed - it sounds like you are saying "tha kid, if you knew what went on, you'd want him gone even more!" - if so we are on agreement!

No offense, Dave....  But, I understand what Tha Kid is saying here.  There could some things going on behind the scene that we may not know about.

But, if it comes off, as an excuse for the Johnnies not being able to seal the deal on blue-chippers....  Then, that's what it is....  An excuse!  The ties need to be severed, if the Johnnies can't land Stephenson.  Plain and simple!

If we don't land neither, Harrington should put a lock on his scholarships distribution until next year. Give him the Dolan,  Isiah Thomas treatment, when Dolan told Thomas late last year not to do anymore moves your stuck with the roster you put together.

Dave I read between lines, no need to elaborate it is pure mathematics.

Dave, I have no idea what's going on behind-the-scenes nor do I really care.  All I care about is whether St. John's has the capability of locking up big time talent.  I've watched Norm do nothing with 5 straight recruiting classes.  Besides JB, has Norm ever been able to land a potential top 50 recruit?  The undeniable answer is no.  And I don't care what people say ... there is no way to win in this monster of a conference without bringing in top talent on a continual basis.  That is why I laugh at those who have come on here claiming SJU to be poised to be in the top 5 in the conference next year.  Regardless of the fact that SJU's players will be veterans next season, I guarantee the recruits that rivals are bringing in will be better.  And ultimately, talent will win out.

I'm not going to rip Norm yet ... after all, Lance hasn't signed elsewhere as of the moment.  But pretty much the only reason this man was kept was the potential of landing Lance.  The only so-called rival to SJU just signed the 3rd ranked player in the nation.  So he has fallen right in our lap.  And SJU still can't close the deal.  If Norm doesn't land Lance, not only should he be fired on the spot, but so should all those above him.

If I came across as making an excuse for the staff that was not my intention. What people assume is going on and what really is going on are two different things. However I guess the end result is the same and the blame definitely falls onto Norm.

I almost wonder if Lance's dawdling has given us another year with Norm.  Someone - maybe it was lfball on hoops' blog - was saying that you can't fire a guy based on the whims of one recruit.  But I think they had to have kept him on based on the potential of a recruit.  That's no difference.

Amen. I don't want to kill him yet either because I'd like to land Lance. I know they say a win is a win or the end result is all that matter but I'd still be unhappy about how we played the game.
