Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Also based on that page and back and forth, sounds like there'll be a story on Dwight in tomorrow's Daily News.

So Jesse Sapp was the key player on the other team.
He's a kid that wanted, and left us for GTown.

49 is quite impressive, but does anyone know the other guys on played on either team?

49 is a lot of point in any league.

I have never seen Dwight play, but this kid has to be able to create his own shot to score this many points. I think it is safe to say he is no Larry Wright or Avery Patterson.

Larry Wright created his shot better than any player Norm has coached.  He didn't have the strength to finish when he got to the basket, though.  That would have come with time and added strength.

Avery was just a three-point gunner.  And that is fine.  He got into trouble when he started taking to many three's out of the set position.

We can agree to disagree on Larry. Paris DJ and Mason all are better at creating their own shot then Larry was. Larry was a great jump shooter but did not have the handle to create his own shot.

I agree, this kid can light it up. Lets hope he continues in college.

I'll add something to the Larry Wright discussion - in my opinion, Marillac, you're wrong, a little; I think Mason creates his shots better (and has the height), but he just can't hit them, and he shoots differently at different times.  Wright was actually decent at getting into the lane, but lacked strength.

Is Hardy strong in the lane/ on the drive?  It seems like he is more capable of scoring in big, big bunches than either of the "designated shooters" were. Can he create his own shot? Especially since sometimes, well, the Red Storm players get the ball in awkward positions for making plays, and that slows down the offense.

Wright did not create his shot better than Showtime.

The only times Wright was able to create his own shot was against St.Francis, Sacred Heart and Fairly Dickenson.

Remember how good we all thought he was after the first 4 games?
Then we went down to Miami, and he was overmatched from the opening tip.

Paris Horne is awful at creating shots for himself or anyone else.  DJ can create shots for others well, but he's not a kid that can create his own consistently.

Wright had a very nice midrange game, and got to the rim seemingly at will.  He was just FAR too weak to finish if there was any kind of contact.  It makes it really easy to get to the rim when you can shoot 43% from three and pull up effortlessly from 15.  Defenders have to respect that first.

Well I think Larry Wright had very good potential to create his own shot but we never ran any sets for him. I loved the Larry Wright floater when he drove from the baseline and either hit it from there or faded in towards the paint. We also never isolated him around baseline screens to free him up on the wing. So I agree with Marillac to a degree.

I do think, Marillac, you sell Paris short when it comes to his handle and we've been over this before. I think Horne has a very quick first step and he can create space but he isn't a very good shooter off the dribble(yet). He just moves too fast and his shots are often clanking off the back rim. Once he gains more control of his body he will be deadly hitting those shots.

DJ showed so much growth last season when it came to shot selection. He stopped going all the way into lane and brought back the art of the midrange game. I think he can still improve on this but I liked his development.

Got to love the offseason...always filled with promise and potential of a better year.

Showtime wasn't a Norm recruit which is why I believe he wasn't involved into the discussion.

i agree with you that wright was better than anyone out of our current team at getting to the lane. the kid could get past almost anyone when he was confident.  but i disagree on paris horne being awful at it. at least for himself i think he is better than dj and mase and i dont think its even close. but the other two are better off the pass.

I think Paris can get to the hole better than Wright. I do think Wright was better at putting up a shot after while Paris needed to get all the way to hole in order to convert. Wright got to the hole against the cupcakes and didn't do squat in conference.
