Chant for Kilpatrick
« on: January 10, 2008, 07:01:39 PM »
He's goin to the Depaul game I think.  If we do a chant for him maybe something like "We want kilpatrick" or something like that, it'd be pretty cool.  and will show how knowledgeable stj fans are.

im not trying to rain on any 1 parade but do u offer sean knowing u have dj,paris, and larry. also knowing the fact that u are in need of a back up point guard next year. also knowing u need more help in the post. sean is good but i dont think u need him for next year. seriously save ur ship if u cant find any one ( u need) for next year and stock up in 09.

this is outstanding advice kob...but the problem is we're in a situation where we have to take anything we can get.  it's the "best player available" syndrome.

the players we really needed have signed on elsewhere.

besides, if seton hall gets this kid and we lose out, it sends a signal that gonzo is all over norm in the recruiting department.  we have to win some of these battles...or else.

Kob As much as I agree with you and you failed to mention Cav too but I believe Sean will be a 09 guy though as I think he is going to prep school. Larry Wright would then be a senior and all of our freshman would be Juniors. I'm not defending the move however its not ludicrous either.

Hopefully 7 students chanting will get this 2-star recruit to commit to mighty St. John's.  ::)

You guys should start the "Fire Roberts" chant pretty soon. That'll be the gift that keeps on giving.

1 recruit is better then none. :(

If Kilpatrick is a 2008 recruit, it created a ridiculous logjam at the 2/3 spot.

If hes a 2009 recruit, you're still chanting for a 2-star player.

Either way, Norm sucks.

i've been saying i'd rather go after parrom/lawrence/scott/spellman.  fact is they are not coming here it looks like. so we might as well try to get this kid for 09.

Stool,

I really don't hold too much stock in the ratings system of kids in high school. I've seen countless guys thats rivals has rated 3 star and are playing in the NBA now while I've seen 5 star guys turn out to be college busts. Point of the matter is that its all about on the court and not on paper.

Paul Milsap, Rodney Stuckey, Sean Williams are a few names off the top of my head and I think DJ Strawberry if I'm not mistaken too. I think Aaron Gray wasn't even a top 150 guy either not that he is NBA but he dominated in the Big East.

aaron gray looks like a really good 2nd round pick..  he'll be a solid backup center.

other examples are: craig smith (nba player 3 star), jared dudley (nba player. 3 star), al thorton (3 star. first round pick last year), rodney carney (3 star. first round pick), geof mcdormmet (3 star. very good player for providence),

i can't stand dudley but i really really like craig (on my fantasy team :D ).  i think their coach (i can't think of the guy's name) would be a good fit here too.

Y'all can even go further.
Look at the Dream Team. How many of them was Mickey AAs?

Mullin
Jordan
Magic
Ewing
Laetner

How many was unknowns?

Bird - an afterthought, given the last schollie in Indiana's recruitin class.
Pippen - unknown, went to Central Arkansas
Mailman - unknown, went to LA Tech
Stockton - went to Gonzaga fore they was the rage.
Clyde - was a superstar in college but wuzn't no Mickey AA.
Sir C - unheralded and fat til he tore up the SEC.
Admiral - all y'all know his story.

Now this sure dont mean SK gonna be no Dream Teamer. Just sayin that them rankins aint no exact science either.
