@ThaKid, I suppose: I disagree. I think Kennedy and Horne have both improved and some of that credit has to be given to Norm. I was honestly surprised to see Paris hit the rim every time on his distance shots. You remember his freshman year? He started by hitting some shots, but also missing by nearly a foot on others. The rest of the year he seemed to focus on defense and shot a little less as a percentage of his time on the floor.  Fast forward to his sophomore year. His shooting percentages from distance went down but Horne's overall percentages go up; he turns the ball over less; he understands his role when mase goes down and looks a lot better doing it.  Horne was here much of last summer; some of the credit has to go to the staff.

Kennedy, meanwhile, also reduced his turnovers, compensated when he couldn't get shots to fall inside the arc, seemed to get a little better at his defensive role (still needs some work), and at the end of the year concentrated at the FT line and was the team's best charity stripe shooter. Kennedy took a lot more shots, and his offensive contributions/ offensive efficiency were better, especially when you compare conference play from a year ago to this past year.

Look, unless you're with the players you can't say whether it was their own work or off-site training, or consultations/ workout plans with the coach and the staff that made them better. You have to assume that since the players improve while playing for coach, coach has something to do with it.

I'm not making coach out to be some guru at anything, a great communicator, or any of that; I think the progress that centers haven't made under Norm Roberts is troubling, I think he doesn't know how to get Justin more involved, I think the scoring part of Malik Boothe's game (along with his defense) needs some work.

The thing about this improvement is that it has to continue for it to mean anything.
It's nice to see Kennedy, Horne and even Evans and Thomas show flashes, but Evans should be going from 10.3 and 7.1 to 14.5 and 8.2.

The only way Roberts will keep his job is if he shows that although he can't get a top 25 recruit, he can recruit 50 -200 and turn of some of these diamonds in the rough into stars.

We have not seen him do this yet, and it's a tall order, but it's the only way we'll ever win with him recruiting.

My camera is much too big to fit into that tiny hole.

Anyway, back to the important bit: I've hacked* alleged writers to death for using phrases like charity stripe. Their prose obviously, not them, I'd never hurt one precious hair on one of their precious artistic heads. In the future mind your Ps and stripes.

* hacked, geddit? That there is good righting.

they looked good on weds. and good last night. also more recruits was there again. i dont think at anytime during norms tenure has he had this many recruits in 2 days. he has made inroads into the city. kids are talking about yall again. they wasnt before. alot of aau coaches are talking also. thats why i said something is brewing.
he did it smart also. kyle, sterling and doron are good friends. its smart to put them together at once so they can each see they have interest in the school. all the big time school does small things like this.

KOB. . Norm is like some guy at the club that goes out and gets a girls phone number. She thought he was nice and didn't want to be mean by saying no to him. Norm waits his 2 -3 days and makes the call, only to realize he got a bad phone number.

I actually blame some of Justin's problems last year, aside from the injury/mask, to the Big Man camp he attended.  While he might have learned some things, he seemed to think instead of reacting when he got the ball in the post.  The split second it took him to remember ehat he had been told he should do allowed the defense to collapse on him.  He needs to just play.

The same seemed to happen to Coker due to the short length of time he has played organized ball.  He didn't react quickly enough when he had scoring opportunities.  Last year, his instincts were better than they were hi freshman year.  Hopefully, we see more growth this year.

Burrell doesn't "seem" to have the desire of Paris/DJ for self-improvement and is definitely a "head case."

From what I've seen it may be just the opposite. I think that JB was trying too hard last year and thinking too much and his natural athleticism was sacrificed in the process.

I saw him play for Bridgton Academy and he's got great natural ability but last year he sometimes looked almost robotic out there.

I think he is anything but a "head case" and expect him to return to form this season and be a major contributor.

:D I see Omari playing PG minutes this season. Has a great handle and gives us size in backcourt.

I stand corrected.  I hope he puts everything together and has a great year.
