5 Reasons the Storm can Dance

Ok a little Bruce play on words. I'm still upset I feel like I'm the only person who didn't see him at Giants Stadium. Anyways new article out there for discussion.

http://www.examiner.com/x-26064-St-Johns-Red-Storm-Basketball-Examiner~y2009m10d13-Five-reasons-the-Red-Storm-dance-in-March

With the days of Chris Mullin and Walter Berry just a fading, distant memory, most St. John's fans would probably settle for Boo Harvey and Shawnelle Scott at this point. Yet, there is reason to be optimistic in Queens this season.  Coming off of a 16-18 season, which culminated in a loss to Richmond in the CBI Tournament, the Red Storm return all of the major pieces from last year's squad.

In what is likely Norm Roberts' last chance to continue collecting paychecks as the head coach of St. John's, the Storm returns over 95% of their scoring and rebounding from a season ago. The only losses from the 08-09 team were little used guard Tyshawn Edmondson and Tomas Jasiulionis, a 6'11" center who probably had the word 'Project' tattooed somewhere on his body.

The table is set for a successful run this season. A challenging non-conference schedule (one that includes Duke, Temple, and Siena) and another daunting Big East slate poses major challenges for the Storm.  However, this team isn't built like any other team during the Roberts era. Specifically, there are five reasons why the Red Storm can realistically make the NCAA Tournament when the pairings are announced in March:

Mr. sullivan reffered to Anthony Mason Jr as one of the Big East's most complete players. Everything he wrote after that couldn't be taken seriously.

Do you think Mason is one of the top 15 players in the Big East?

Do you think Mason is one of the top 15 players in the Big East?

Why would any right minded person believe that?

That would mean we have three players in the top 15, because Horne and Kennedy are better than him.

I agree that Mason is at best the third best player on a team universally picked in the bottom of the conference.

Wasnt Mason honorable mention ALL Big East before last year in a conference that was pretty damn good?

Im not saying he is top 15 Big East, but Im waiting to see a list of 15 returning Big East players that are better

The point is that the writer said Mase was one of the most complete players in the Big east.   I disagree.  I'm sure you can look up any pre-season all league selections , 1st through 3rd  team and MAse won't be on them.  He's missed an entire year, and wasn't a COMPLETE player before he was hurt.

He's a decent offensive player with questionable shot selection(to say the least)  I'm sure someone will put up 15 players that are better and then you will nitpick away at 2 or 3 guys you think stink.  BLAh...blah.  .  there are probably 2-3 guys better than Mase on the 5 best teams in the BE anyway.  who cares.
