Mase out 4-6 weeks

This is getting ridiculous with him.  A huge problem I'm scared of is this kid hasn't consistently played basketball in a long time, there is no way he's goign to come back and just be the player he was.  He's not that much better (if at all) then our other wings when 100% healthy, now he's going to be playing catch up.  There is no way Norm can start this guy from the day he returns or he will totally lose the trust of his team.

I feel terrible for Mase, but we knew the risk going into this season.

Fortunately, we have depth.

With us, it's always a matter of when a player goes down. Never if.

maybe this is a good thing...not that he was going to, but now Norm cant start the season attempting to use Mason as the focal point of the offense, and perhaps when he comes back it will be easier to give him diminished minutes.

I agree. Will be interesting what Norm does when he comes back if Lawrence and or Hardy are playing well though.

Never want to see a kid hurt.
I want to see him back 100% in Jan for Conference play.

But this is our strongest position.

It will give more minutesto DJ, Omari, Paris, and even Brownlee & Quincy.
We were wondering where Norm was going to find minutes

We have no stars, but we are 13 deep.

It makes Norms job a lot easier now I think.  I always thought the hardest thing for Norm this season would have been how he handled Mason.  Now all Norm has to do is tell him, work hard to get back and when you come back EARN your minutes by playing D, rebound, and move the ball.  You gotta imagine if we all say "here we go again" that guys on the team think the same thing.  I'm sure he's a good guy but lets get it going already.

Also will help get minutes to the young guys early on to see what they got.  Omari should take these minutes and run with them if he wants more later on.

6 weeks takes Mase out until December; I doubt they'll rush him back, based on what we've seen from the injury announcements. It's usually on the longer side.

I don't think it would have been that hard to sit Mase at the get-go.  Two years ago, Mase came back from injury early and didn't earn a starting nod for a game or two.  And that was on a team that was all freshmen.  He started 16 games, but played 22.  Norm would have started him on the bench.

In truth, as much as people think Mase is a player with some flaws (and I think a different coach might have corrected those flaws), he is a talented player.  This will give Brownlee/ Lawrence/ Q Roberts a chance to blow up.

Feel terrible for the kid, knowing how hard he was working to get back.
Poison,  not to speak for anyone else, but i don't think people were glad he got injured again. At least i didn't interpret it that way.  I think what was meant, from strictly a basketball sense, was that this might help the team in the long run.  getting younger guys more run, experience..etc.
For the long term,  Mase missing the beginning of the season, may be a blessing for the other 5 sg/sf we have.

Feel bad for him.

For all we know maybe Mason was not winning the battle for a starting job.

Boo. We had one senior, and now he's hurt. Again.
It didn't bode well for us the first time this happened.

Only three things wrong with this post!
1. This does make things easier on Norm
2. I do believe the team is better w/o Mason
3. You spent two years bashing Mason on BEB and now that he is hurt it is a disaster?????
(I do not have the time or desire to pull them up but someone with nothing else to do like say Bluto I am sure could find numerous posts of you Bashing Junior!

we are sju, it's one thing to bash his game,
it's entirely something else to be glad he's hurt.

He's still an amateur. I'm not fond of the way most of our guys have played. Are you?

And where did I say this was a disaster?
It's a disaster for Mason Jr. That much is true.
