he deserves some credit. I don't care how bad he's played the first 79 minutes and 50 seconds of the season. In the last 10, he was money, and people like me should be eating their words right now.

So that's the point of this thread. I'm eating my words. Kid deserves credit.

Yea good job by Boothe to step it up when we needed him most. He also took the ball coast to coast with little time remaining to get to the line.

It was a smart play by Boothe, cruised down low, got the foul and made the shots count. Clutch.

Boothe finished strong and made plays when it counted. The Bonnies will win their share of games this year. Nice win on the road.

It's funny with that play I'm thinking to myself y doesn't he do that more?? I really don't believe he's as bad as he has been playing but rather just so passive.  I want him to take it to the rack more with authority and make the other team respect him as a threat.  If he started games off aggressively to the hole it would open up things for everyone around him.

I certainly can't speak for what he did or didn't do tonight not being able to see the game but in the LIU game he penetrated into no man's land and left his feet which is what caused the problems (also to note this happened only twice).

So it wasn't the fact he wasn't getting into the lane but it was what he was doing once he got there. Boothe can get into the lane but he needs to make better decisions with the basketball. He needs to identify what the defense is giving up and he needs to take advantage of it.

If the defense stays home then make the layup.

If the defense collapses then kick it out.

If the defense steps up then dish/oop.

If he doesn't like how the defense reacts then pull it out, reset, and run it again until you get them to break down.

He has to use his penetration to manufacture and create offense. I think he is capable of doing that.

Also this all doesn't lay on Boothe either. His teammates have to slide into open space to allow Boothe to get them the ball. They can't just be spectators. If they see their man leaving them then they need be proactive and move into open space where Boothe can deliver.

boothe deserves a ton of credit for his smart play, and i am tired of all his critics.

he is not steve nash, he plays a different game. he is the rock this team relies on to break the press, limit turnovers, push the tempo, and allow the other offensive players to do their thing.  What he needs to work on is hitting the open shot so people cant help off of him.

Our players have been just standing there on
offensive sets since long before Norm.

Burrell has to start moving without the ball.
Nicholson was his test, and although I didn't see the game,
these numbers are overwhelming.

Sometimes he frustrates me but I won't kill Boothe.  He has some skil. But in a slowdown game he's got flaws.

By the way, looked at the statsheet output (http://statsheet.com/mcb/games/2009/11/17/st-johns-69-st-bonaventure-68, advanced team stats) and the pace of this game was recorded at 63 possessions - slower than LIU and slower than they played last year... or the year before...

Or to explain it more plainly, the Johnnies got 46 shots up against St. Bonaventure, and 60 against LIU.  The Bonnies slowed this team down.

We have to get Burrell and Evans working in the same game. 

And the damned backdoor cuts.  I promise you that Siena will zone and backcut us into submission.  I hope Brown does a lot of backcutting too; these guys need practice in defending the hoop as a team.

In a sense, you could say that they pulled out a win with their offense for once, so that's the bright side.  And on the road no less.

A win is a win, congrats to the team but beating a slightly above average A10 team in the last few seconds is not anything to hang your hat on. This team has a ways to go any anyone who had Temple penciled in as a
"lock" win better re-think that.

Have to agree with PMG re: Temple, especially given their showing against the Hoyas. Though it's hard to tell at this point where the Bonnies stand in the A-10.
