The Red Storm is a win away from matching its best start in Norm Roberts' six-year tenure, but the Johnnies haven't made it look easy.

After escaping with a one-point win over St. Bonaventure four days ago, St. John's pulled off a heart-pounding, 79-76 victory at Carnesecca Arena Friday night, improving to 3-0 but only after Brown's Adrian Williams hoisted a potential game-tying shot that clanged off the rim at the final buzzer.

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

If we were more matured we wouldn't have even let it get that close.

Yeah - the maturity/toughness things are this year's talking points.  A load of b.s. so far.

Before we're young now we're tough. You're right.

Also we aren't tough. You want tough, look at Kentucky. They blew the doors off of Rider from the start. They played full court defense and made the other team uncomfortable, they rotated their guys with purpose not just for the hell of it, they saw how the defense was reacting to them and they took it to them, their big men established position and moved to open areas in the zone. We have a talented team but we aren't using them to their full capabilities right now.

Whatever offense we run we need to stop it and just let these kids play. Run some simple stuff like pick and rolls, get the ball to the hoop, and bust our tails playing full court 5 on 5 defense, then if someone looks gassed bring a fresh body in for that one guy not sub 3 guys out. It kills rhthym.

We need to start realizing what we have as far as mismatches against our opponoents. Some nights it should be Burrell while other nights Evans, Horne or DJ, etc. Each game we can't force feed our "offense" we run and hope it works against whatever the opponent is doing that given night. I know they have to be looking at some of this but it sure doesn't appear like it.

This is a young team. Oh wait, no, it isn't.
