Man, I'm praying.

Alot of optimism here, the early jitters will be crucial.  This is the last meeting with Duke right? Shame.

It might be the last game, but if it is, it their loss. Teams from around the country will be lining up for a shot at the garden every other year. We should have a pick of the litter. Why not get UNC and stick it to duke while we re at it?

Stick it to Duke how?  Duke plays in the NY area EVERY year whether or not the st johns game is here.  They played twice at the garden already this year with the Preseason NIT and they are playing Gonzaga in NY later this month.  Duke can schedule a NATIONAL game at MSG any time they want to.

We have been a horrible opponent for years now and do no good to Duke's RPI.  They want a challenge out of this game and have not been getting it.  The best thing we can do is show them a helluva game this year and hope Duke sees promise in Norm and St. John's and keeps it around.  It hurts us a lot more to lose this game than it hurts duke.

What are the chances that they reschedule for next year?

It doesnt really hurt us because we can just schedule a similar claiber team in terms of talent and national exposure in about a second

Why does it hurt Duke? How could we "stick it to Duke" if duke is the one ending the relationship and they get to play at MSG every year anyways?

it hurts us because no team draw the crowd to the garden that duke can. it doesnt matter as much that we can get a top caliber team to play annually, fans in nyc dont care about unc or kansas as much as they want to see duke.

which nine big east games we win and how bad we lose to the novas of the league will be what determines if we are in the dance much more than the nonconfrence games.

I was just using carolina as an example of the type of team we can get. But, seeing how duke uses the msg exposure as a recruiting tool, i m sure they would prefer roy williams not be sniffing around what recently has been their territory

How many local kids have gone to Duke in recent years? Lance Thomas?

The reason why I say its early is we need to finish top 7 in the Big East to get in.  We haven't played a conference game yet.  Are there 7 teams in the Big East better than us?  Based on what I've seen there are 5 teams better than us and another 6 or 7 vying for the last 2 spots.  If we finish 8th and have an 11-1 OOC record we'll have a shot...depending how competitive we are in conference.

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

Lance Thomas is still in college? Wasn't he a top 10-15 recruit at one point?

#20 RSCI, and 5 guys ranked higher than him  in the class of 2006 are still in college as well.

UNC is as national a program as there is.  I'm pretty sure Coach K could care less where UNC plays its games.  Duke gets NYC kids every now and then but not a ton of them like you seem to be suggesting.

Duke plays in MSG/NY area every year anyways, so they won't care, trust me.

To act like anything st johns can do after this year could hurt duke shows you don't know much about what you're talking about.

which is why I said "to act like we could do anything to hurt duke AFTER THIS YEAR..."

This year we can hurt them by winning.  That's what I was implying and that's why I qualified my statement.
