well...i know the game wasnt part of the student ticket package. and i overheard someone say it was sold out, which clearly wasnt the case during our game. the ticket was good for both games right?

im curious as to how many tickets were released for st johns. on tv it looked like all were on the one side. and no one was on the other.

It was. Occasionally, STJ will compete, well, recruit against UConn for a recruit, but, since the early days of Jarvis, almost never against KY. I hope Monasch got to see the second half of the doubleheader to once again see up close how far he is from operating a big-time program.

I wouldn't have invited recruits to this game. Should have been known there was going to be no one there. Holiday Festival would have been better

You can sit 4 years on the UK pine and have a worthless degree to go along with a complete lack of development on the hardwood.

The kid who thinks like that, deserves it.

Last night was painful.  I, too, can see why a kid would rather go elsewhere and sit.  The fans who stay home and complain are helping kill the program.  Blame Norm, blame Harrington...but you, too, are a major part of the problem.  I got season tix when the team was terrible because I want to go to every home game---rather than sporadically.  Not every game is enjoyable to watch but I want to do my best to support the team.  At least we are winning so far.

GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND GO TO THE GAMES!

I'd sit on the pine at UK for the southern girls alone.  no question.  Student makes the degree,  not the school.  we are not competing against Harvard here.

So...stepping on the court for pregame layup lines and garbage time for 4 years versus actually playing and maybe one day starting for St. John's. Really?

Thoughts on the game:

They really have to get Kennedy making plays earlier in the game; though I thought he and Evans were trying too hard once they got on the court.  Kudos to them trying to prove something, but still.

I enjoyed Bob Knight last night because St. John's was the frontrunner - he only talks about frontrunners.  Like when they played Duke, he seemed to talk Duke.  He would appreciate DJ Kennedy b/c Kennedy's like his better Indiana players - smart, tough, does a lot of smart things on the court.

Sometimes, I wonder what it would look like with Kennedy at point guard and another guard (Hardy?) helping him bring it up...

Dele Coker - despite his overenthusiastic blocks once in a while - is really making his presence felt.  Stith had some nice offensive moments, but I think he had a drive where he drew the defense to him, and completely missed the concept of the open man to his left.

Justin Brownlee... I didn't think he was all that great last night.  All of his bad ideas wrapped into one game.  He should only drive when WIDE open.  Rob Thomas was solid but rusty early on.  But then he was Rob.  Sean needs to stop dribbling from the perimeter - agreed with all who said that -  most of the time.  It's a nice element in his game, judiciously used.  He also needs to remember, like the rest of the team, the defend the easy lay up first and foremost.  If those B-S forwards beat you with jumpers, so be it.

Boothe had some okay plays, and a pg doesn't have to be an assist machine... but did anyone see Kennedy bringing up the ball on one side, with Boothe calling for it, and Kennedy ignoring him?  Not that it was intentional but... interesting.

Hardy was pretty much what you could ask of him.  Paris was pretty decent, but I think he's regressing a little, maybe.  He had a couple of shots that looked poorly-aimed, like his freshman year.  but he made some plays and I think he looked better on defense.

Interesting how they had so much trouble against the Bulldog bigs.  The team needs to keep moving, for sure, because with all those attempts at shot s blocked, an extra pass and some motion would have turned those into fouls.  There was some good passing (though I cringe at behind the back passes) in the second half.

The sloppy ballhandling, though, is going to hurt this team something hard.

I was there lastnite and after seeing that second game made me realize how far we still have to go not as a team but a program
It was sad to hear let's go uconn at the end of our game on our home court..it seemed like all stj had was that one half on one side of the risers n then some fans scatterd..I don't think it will be until the team gets in the top 25 til the city starts to embrase this team again so all we can do is keep winning they will come..I hope

As far as team performance I wasn't impressed with much either..sean evans has to stop dribbling the ball..he just seems out of control and nothing good comes out of it..are team as a whole looked real sloppy we just couldn't hold on to the ball..
I'm not sure about that starting 5 we had either..
I did see some nice drives from hardy stith and dj
We had spurts were I thought we played great d had good ball pressure but it was only for a short amount of time..offensivly paris had some nice 3s I think boothe actually had one from the corner as well..dele impressed me on offense as much as d..wish omari would have took more shotss..overall we got sum work to do imo

You didn't think Brownlee was good? I thought he looked really smooth last night. Did get into foul trouble, but he's got a great touch around the basket, and he showed it.

Maybe he should start. Sometimes, he's better than Evans, and vice versa.

UConn and Kentucky are powerhouses. Not only did Kentucky and UConn fans want to see this game but anyone and everyone who is a college basketball fan. I think we can start packing some games in conference if we get into top 25.

I always THOUGHT that Kentucky fans were the best in college basketball, but after being in MSG last night I now can honestly say it's not even close.  Not only were the fans in there Kentucky fans, but they were Kentuckians, meaning they traveled.  This wasn't like a crowd that Duke brings which is a bunch of 15 year old frontrunners, but these were people that made the trip from the Bluegrass.  And they were unbelievably loud and knowledgeable.

i've never been to an ncaa tourney championship game, but i have to imagine that yesterday's KY vs UCONN game came very close to the electricity a championship game garners.

The energy, noise level, and anticipation was amazing.  And when they played “welcome to the jungle” right before tip off… I got goose bumps.  AWESOME

NYC and the Garden is by far the best place to play basketball

Trust me, Theo - the Kentucky fans are deep.  I used to go to a kentucky meetup in NY and there were like 30+ fans each time for even the BS games.  And they were like a splinter group.  They are deep.
