Fugly win

Just like a Hofstra cheerleader, ugly but dooable. Good win, even though we played pretty bad. Great play by Boothe down the stretch, the usual from DJ, and how about Hardy! Now lets go kick Cornell's ass

I was impressed with our defense at the end. We showed strength and balance by scoring from all over the court in the second half.

Hardy was great. He can drive, and I'd like to see him do it more often.

Brownlie was fun to watch. He rebounds like an NBA player.

DJ didn't start off well, and even struggled at first in the second half,
but I really think he showed what he's made of yet again when it mattered most.

Good for him.

Props for coming from behind and pulling out the W.  But seriously, Norm NEEDS to switch up his "offensive philosophy", it's been atrocious since I've been following.  Standing around the 3pt line passing the ball back and forth until we wait for DJ or Hardy to penetrate is disgusting.  I cannot stress that enough, the strategy NEEDS serious revising. 

And although I always criticize Boothe for his piss poor play and taking up a slot on the court he def came through in the final min of the 2nd half.  Why doesn't he play with that type of agressive play more often like he did when we played Duke? Absolutely baffling.

  The most important thing i took away from this game, and this season so far, is that we are winning games that in the past we have lost.  No way we win this game last year or year before.
   This is because of DJ i believe.  He has been able to carry us when the chips are on the table.  Now, if we can just get him to wake up a few hours earlier and play like that from the opening tip. 
  Lets finish this tomorrow and then bring on the BE.  That is all that matters this year. Above .500, and we dance.

Nah I don't think so.  Just win tomorrow, and beat Bryant Wednesday.  A win @ Georgetown combined with these 2 upcoming wins (hypothetically) would be top 25.

even with all of the shuffling in the top 25. i still dont think we are in. although a few of the other hopefuls also lost.

although i would love to be wrong.

Looking at the AP Poll....last week we were 34th.

Cicni is ranked 25th and lost this week.  Ga Tech is ranked 22nd and losing as I write this post.  Memphis and Illinois got more votes than us, but lost this week.  So it looks like it's possible to move to around 30 or so. 

Gonzaga is ranked 15th and that was a bad loss against Duke....so they may fall below us too...but that's a long way to fall.

2 wins this week (Cornell & Bryant) and I think we will be ranked going into BE play against G'Town

what pissed me off about this win was the ft %. we are terrible from the line. im scared during close games, since we rarely hit both shorts. (let alone 1) 18 for 29. 62%. and you cant blame sean evens this game. he was 4 for 6.

norm has to have these guys practicing free throws more. we need to get over 70% on a consistent basis.

omari is 3 for 11
paris is 7 for 13
dele is 2 for 6
sean is 18 for 35

all pretty much at or below 50%

I wonder if Paris is going to lose his job.  His defense is nice but Norm seems to end up going with Hardy more for scoring, and rightfully so... DJ's playing 1 on 5 at times and while I love his game, he's not that kind of offensive player. 

Last year Dele was 12-17 for almost 71%; the year before he was 44%.  Who's the real Dele?  I don't know. 

This team also needs some lessons in what a good shot is.  Paris and Justin Brownlee, especially.

But thank God we beat Hofstra; I am sick of Tom Pecora stumping behind the scenes for Norm's job and tired of that mediocre program puffing up their feathers... or fur, as it were.

It's true, we need to practice from the stripe.

Boothe, has been surprisingly great from the line. Especially at the end of the game.

This is turning out to be one of those teams that finds a way to win as the clock ticks away.

Boothe once again with clutch shots at the end of the game and a timely block. DJ scoring at will, rebounding and making critical blocks underneath. Brownlee doing it all when the game was on the line.

If we beat the Red and Bryant,  we'll sneak in the following week.

That was a foul and a miracle it wasn't called.  Break for us right there.

I thought that Boothe's steal turned the momentum in our favor.  DJ switching  on Jenkins was also big.  He was able to get his shot off easily over a smaller Paris but had a much tougher time shooting over DJ.  Even when Paris was guarding Jenkins, there were a few times he went by the defender, only to find DJ waiting for him.  I do agree that Brownlee's block was huge.

While we came out cold offensively to start the 2nd half, I thought the defensive adjustments were huge.  Jenkins had 16 in the 1st half but didn't score for the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half and he ended up with 24.

Boothe finshed the game strong. He's making a habit of that.
