after 15 games
« on: January 10, 2010, 10:09:23 PM »
our record is 10-5

how many honest had this team with a better record?

i had STJ 10-2 OOC, 1-2 conf play (11-4 overall).

i cannot believe most on this board had us much better than 11-4 right now (-1 W) , so wtf is everyone bitching about?  :)

lets wait until we lose the next 4/5 and go 1-7, then let the bitching begin...

STJ has to win the next 2 at home to salvage the season.

The Friar game was difficult to stomach and naturally has the Johnny massive in an uproar.  I don't blame them.

While I see your point - and agree, I wouldn't have thought the team would be doing much better than this - the Providence loss really was a indicator that this team doesn't have it together. The post game quotes, as well, are concerning.

I think the team could be doing better than they are.  But the two road games are tough games.  If the team finishes January with just one loss (requiring an upset at either Pitt or U Conn and a win at home against 'Nova), the team is on a decent track, 4-4 in the league.  With the exception of @Syracuse and maybe @Notre Dame, they have a chance in the rest of the games if they keep their heads about them and play smart ball.

My gut says there are too many exploitable flaws for them to make that kind of run. But logically, if everyone remains healthy and knows their roles, they could still surprise.

agreed, one that got away (although it seems to be norm's norm), but we also swept in philly (who honestly predicted that?), gotta take the law of averages and take the good with the bad. norm is definitely on thin lice

why im upset....6 years of competing with teams just to be defeated late...this season is no different...and idc what anyones projections were to start the season, these games were winable and we lost...thats why im upset...ive never seen  teams worse at closing out games than those under norm roberts

in perspective, all games are winnable, we win some we werent supposed to, but nobody complains about those wins. all im saying is our record so far is (-1) from my prediction, so at this point, we shouldnt panic, if we lose to cincy, ill be in panic mode!!!

I agree...but the Providence game was hard to stomach.

hey buckeye...i think the only panic mode you'll be in if we lose to cincinnati is wondering how you'll spin it into something positive.

it's getting harder to do.

its all relative, after 15 games, i had us 11-4,  believe me my patience is wearing thin, a loss to cincy would put me 2 games behind my win prediction, that means there is no more room for error to meet my expectations. 2 games would mean we need to upset 2 BE ranked teams.. not expecting that to happen. cincy will be the most important game of the season in my opinion

Give me a break buckeye...did you have us losing 4 of our last 5?  I doubt it. The season has taken a turn for the worse.  Did you have us barely beating st bonnies brown and hofstra?  Wake up and smell the roses (fitting for you bc of ohio st).

A win is a win, did you have us blowing out any of those teams?

I also had us at 11-4 at this time. It is not the 10-5 record that has some posters freaking out. It is the way we loose games. These 8 minute mark meltdowns are so hard to watch. I know Norm is the coach so the buck stops with him, but I just do not understand why our players loose their minds at time.

I understand a win is a win and a loss is a loss, but sometime there is style point with each one and so far St. John's has lacked alot in the style points department.

Cinn it a must game.

No baldi, a win is not a win when you are using the results to forecast how the remainder of the season will go.

After SIX YEARS we still have no ball or player movement! The offense is as awful to watch as it has ever been. 62 ppg in the BE!

no, but i didnt have us winning the first 6 games. who cares if we barely beat the bonnies and hofstra, i didnt have us losing by only 9 against duke, or losing only by 7 against louiv....

there is no way to spina loss in a positive way on this board, if we were seton hall and lost first 3 be openers by less than 1-2 possessions, i cannot see people saying, 'man i love how were losing, were so competitive!!"

anyway i agree, cincy is must win....otherwise, the season is in serious trouble

if your buckeyes had not been better than 6-5 in the last 5 years, how would you respond to horrible home loss along with a few road losses in which the team looked like it totally collapsed with 5-10 mins left in the game?

The Cornell loss put the season in serious trouble.
The PC loss put the season in more serious trouble.
We're on life support coming up against Lance.
