* Lack of ability to make hard decision and bring in an experienced assistant coach with offensive capability. Glenn B. and Casey are not highly respected on any level.
* Not finding the dollars to retain the Young Life Guru, resulting in not landing either of the big three studs. No one can tell me this was a pivotal loss for the recruiting effort and further solidified perception of SJU not being a good option for most local kids.
* Developing this Kansas approach of rotating nine or ten guys to wear out opponents. KU can do that with studs. Average players at best can't do that.
* Staying the course with Boothe simply reflects Norm's persona, one of limited ability, heart, but constantly being outclassed.
* Inability to embrace the fact that injuries, integrating new players and winning on the road are simply challenges that good coaches overcome.
Good post, paultzman.....
1) COACH seems too stubborn to bring in someone who has offensive coaching capabilities.... Besides, they (the administration) can just fire Norm and allow a competent head coach coach this team and future Johnny teams.
2) I totally agree with you here, Paultzman. I'm sure they could've found the necessary dollars to retain the "Young Life Guru." I just felt they believe they could get those recruits without him. WRONG!!!! And, the perception of the St. John's still not being a place for most local kids rings like a tamborine. C'mon! It's not by accident those three kids not coming to Queens.
3) Once again.... COACH continues to use the same Kansas system that has yet to work here at St. John's.... I continue to say that we have average talent and a good coach would adapt his system towards the capabilities of his personnel. Keyword: good coach.
4) Boothe can't cut on this level.... Unless, Boothe is on the floor with the Cleveland Cavs lineup then he's no use on this level. I'm sorry, but he should've signed with a MAAC team. Not to mention, I still do not understand why the staff didn't secure a signature from Malcolm Armstead.... And, he's only a sophomore! Once again.... Coaching.
5) Look at your latter comment.... "Good coaches overcomes." We've already beaten that dead horse to the white meat and now to the bone. And, we all know he's used injuries and integrating new players, as an excuse before. So, what's his new excuse gonna be? I can't win when we play all these games on the road? Just an excuse-maker due to his shortcomings, as a coach and recruiter.
Please, administrators..... End this circus in March.
