stith also failed to score.  norm hasn't recruited a high quality point guard so we go with what we got.

if he had gone after someone like wall, we'd have won the game.  instead, he sits on his lazy butt and tells people he's under no pressure to win..

Stith played well in the first half. He pushed the tempo when needed and found the open man upon penetration. In the 2nd half Nova adjusted and shadowed our perimeter guys more and played straight up. I would have liked to see Kennedy with the ball in his hands more an had Horne and Hardy on the wings.

I agree with Dave. Stith is a frosh, who shows promise. He penetrates fairly well, passes decently, but shoots poorly. The latter may come around in coming years with practice. His on the ball defense is improving. Frosh take time. Boothe has had enormous opportunities, but evidences no promise of improvement. Accept that Norm and move on. It is your responsibility to make hard decisions. Make one.

Have you seen him play?  I like the Lavance Fields comparisions , if they are accurate.

I would play Omari over either point guard. He is not a great option right now. But he would offer us something. He isn't a great shooter, but he can hit a WIDE open shot. He is a good passer and he can get to the rim.

What is the harm in seeing what Omari could do with the ball in his hands?
He might turn it over, and throw up some crazy shots, but at 2-5, and a tough schedule coming up, we've got little to lose.

Boothe doesn't have it. Stithe doesn't either.

Maybe Hardy could start at the 2, and Omari at the point?

These aren't ideal options, but we need change somewhere,
and since there are still 13 games left, we need to take some chances.

I have been a sju fan for years, when I was growing up, when i was at sju and now.  I do not think I have ever been this disappointed in their team.  I blame it on a lot of things, coaching, recruiting, administration off the court issues(Jarvis)... the list goes on and on.  The bottom line is we lose games week in and week out because for the most part we do not have legitimate big east players.  We show signs early but in the end the better players are going to take over the game.  We can blame norm all we want about the x's and o's, but the problem is not so much his coaching but the players we have brought in.  We see Boothe make a ton of mistakes at PG but that is because he sux.  We see missed layups, free throws and open shots.  This is not on Norm it is on the lack of talent.  That however is on Norm.  You do not need the best all the time to win but you cant be in a market w/ NY, NJ and Connecticut and only bring in one B level talent and a bunch of c's and d's and win.  I pray every night, Norm is fired and we bring in a good coach from a top conference that can recruit and coach.  I have learned from watching and playing college sports.  You bring in one big name and others will follow.

Interesting to note that Daryl Bryant was really interested in SJU, but we chose to concentrate on Sylvan, I believe. St. Ray's folks were confident Bryant had BE capability. They were right. Not faulting anyone, but Bryant would be a marked upgrade to Boothe. Oh well, onward and upward!

he has, he played PG almost the entire year last year at south kent and averaged 8 assists per game. i watched him live a bunch of times and im telling you, he has great court vision. people laughed at me when i told them we should sit boothe and play stith more and even try omari at point guard. tell me, whats so crazy about it now?

even foad and marillac, who  told me i needed to get my head checked if i didnt think boothe was our best point guard, you could not have possibly watched the last game and tell me that boothe is our best option at the position. he had 4 turnovers in the first 3 and a half minutes of the game. he had 0 points, 0 assists and 5 turnovers for the game. stith did not have any more trouble breaking the press than boothe and if youre only goal for our big east point guard is to get the ball over the half court line in less than 10 seconds then we wont win any more games. as soon as boothe was taken out we were killing these guys. omari actually looked aggressive adn showed some nice shake against villanova who has some of the best guards in the country. boothe has played 3 and a half years here and has not only not gotten better, he's probably gotten worse, cant we at least give two freshman a chance?

we can add poor basketball instincts to Norm's resume.
he can't evaluate talent. never shown the skill.

omari played point guard for me the past 4 years. but so did kevin. can omari play the point yes but not on a full term basis. u can have dj, omari, and dwight mix it up. shit be creative. u dont have to bench boothe and stith but take a load off for them when  it gets to hard
