We wouldn't have had the money, influence nor the juice to get the kid's off as they did with the Puke lax team.
Are you nuts? Those Duke kids "got off" MUCH MUCH MUCH later. Their names were not cleared for what probably seemed like forever to them. What money or influence? That HURT them. If they were street kids from durham, the DA would never have decided to screw the fact that the police thought the stripper was out of her mind and prosecute to get himself re-elected. They were ONLY prosecuted, unjustly, due to the "money and influence."
You sure dont have a f'in clue.
In my humble opinion, wealthy, surburban, white kids from Garden City with influential attourneys as parents have a better chance of being acquitted of crimes than inner city black youths of meager means defended by court appointed lawyers.
Call me crazy.
I've made no comment on specifics of the Puke lax case, guilt or innocence, nor given my opinion on whether justice was served or not in any way.
Your loyalty for your alma mater and hard on for Puke basketball has caused you to respond in this way.
This is a SJU basketball forum. We hate Puke.

Who was in jail longer? Whho was in the papers every day for months and months? Who was subjected to a totally improper lineup? Who was subjected to a corrupt politician using the differences between blacks and whites, wealth and poverty, in a town where the town and college clashed, as a sword to wield against kids unfairly? Who was bashed by their school professors, the media, and others...despite the police thinking a stripper's accusations were crazy?
The answer to all of these is....the Duke boys.
Normally you may be right, but the DA Nifong utilized his constituents distaaste for the wealthy, sometimes arrogant duke student body as a way to condemn these kids unfairly and get themselves reelected.
You mentiuon Duke as a comparison, and act like the st johns kids were hurt more. How?
You can't bring this issue up and then not comment/. Do you know all of the facts about the duke case? Do you know anything?
This was a classic case of corrupt prosecution....and their wealthy lawyers couldn't get them out of it. According to you that ish doesn't happen to wealthy kids. Were the st johns kids prosecuted for their involvement with a hooker? Please let me know how the wealth of these duke students who were wrongfully accused and slandered HELPED them moreso than if this had been your average poor durhamite. Their wealth is what got them arrested, prosecuted, and wrongfully prosecuted in this case. Perhaps its usually the other way around, but this time it was not.
