I understand that the players would certainly be upset at the student chanting for norms firing at the game. The chant for the coach to be fired really does signal the end of an era for a college basketball team. When a coach is fired its likely that several players transfer and recruits reconsider their decision to end the school (from the sounds of how much potential this roberts kid is suppose to have, that could be a shame). The chants from the students are essentially asking everything that the players know to end. It has to be completely disheartening. Unfortunately for these players, the time has come for the Norm era to end. Its sad for them, but they have to know that the team is not performing to big east exceptions and the exceptions of the students.
I also understand why the redzone people are annoyed with the chants and why they want to stop he chants. But, throwing students out for chanting anything short of profanity or racism remarks is a little draconian.
(To the poster mentioning first amendments rights, St. John's can't violate your first amendment rights because they aren't a state action. The first amendment only grants protections against the state and its agents. So, unfortunately, SJU can toss you from the gym and their campus for anything you say and not violate the first amendment.)
