All 3 suck! St Johns, Rutgers and Seton Hall ALL should be looking for new coaches shortly. Who makes the best choice?

if your asking which team will make the best hire. I will go with Rutgers.  They are a football school and probably more willing to spend money for a coach.  I have zero faith that St. John's will do the right thing.
If your asking me who'll they'll pick, I have no idea.  I'll say Knight.  RU that is.

Knight's almost 70.  I'd love it if they hired him.  They might have a couple of decent years and stabilize as a middle of the league team... and he'll retire (again) in 3 years, frustrated that his team's not doing something the right way.  He won't have an heir apparent, unless Pat Knight gets booted and comes to coach for his dad again.  So they'd get relevance but then would have to search for another coach.  I think selling Rutgers as a destination for recruits will take longer than 3 years.

Rutgers hasn't made a good hire in over 30 years.
Seton Hall has tried. We have not.

I would love to go with Knight here for a few years.  I think Knight would jump for the chance to coach a historic program like St. John's.  Don't forget he got started an hour north at West Point.

It would only make sense, though, if we had a strong heir-apparent with him.  Tim Cluess?  Mark Jackson.  Knight is not going to last more than 3-4 years.

We tried with Jarvis.  He was coming off good seasons with GW including Sweet 16 and we paid him the money to come.

Jarvis was a good hire at the time.  I was really excited when we got him. He was a HUGE name and it shouldn't have turned out like it did. We paid him a very high salary at the time.

Jarvis was a great hire. No one knew he was such a bad guy.  Maybe someone should have known.  thats another story.
