I don't agree with the decision, but if the idea is that it takes players until their junior year to be competitive/ to develop into the "system", and you allow the coach to bring in more than half of a roster in one year (and 2 players were injured for a chunk of last year), I think they wanted to give him all the opportunities. And maintain some stability in the program.
And you can't say it was in some way a vindictive idea, which you're getting at, Marillac - considering that the team actually did play decently in the first half of the year. They looked like they might be around .500 in the league. And the assumption (a poor one) was that the BE would be diminished.
I don't agree, and I think there was more than enough evidence to show that the team would have to make an incredible leap to get to .500. They like him, they like that he's not cutting moral "corners," and that people like defending the little grinder from Queens who wants to be the Red Storm coach and couldn't imagine a better job.
Again, obviously, we all disagree.
