How would you feel if Norm Roberts got a promotion?

Based on the vitriolic responses, bringing Norm on as JJ Marketing director is out of the question.

Norm Roberts is still a person with a family. He's been a good representative for the University. I think its certainly worth discussing...besides do we have too many other things to discuss lately?

I'm not stating any sob story or demanding any handouts for him. He is a human being and I would sympathize with anyone losing their job. I don't think we should be heartless and saying fire the man. I respectfully think its time for change but that doesn't mean I don't feel bad for him.

My original question though was how would you feel about him working in some other capacity for the university? Is he deserving? How would he do?

I would agree with you that if he can be given another job at the university other than men's head basketball coach, give it to him. They did it for Mahoney, RR was sucking at the teet for awhile. Give Norm RR's or Mahoney's type comp until he lands on his feet somewhere else.

I doubt FH would just throw his arse out on the street.

He's not going to take an admin job.  He's made enough money to take a year or two off (or broadcasting though methinks he doesn't really have the voice for it) if he wants and then either a head coach job at low/mid major or a 1st assistant at a high major.  He's not so ingrained into STJ like Lou, Mahoney and Rut were and also too young to take that kind of retirement position.

A dean?  The guy is a failure.  Imagine being one of his students and a week before graduation realizing that he missed a required course for you and you can't walk.  LOL

He can't figure out how to beat a 2-3 zone, I wouldn't trust him with my future.

Ah, "restructurings".  Such a pleasant word for layoffs.

He'll be out of work for a year tops, and then he'll go back to being a career assistant. If he was smart with his money his house is paid off and there's cash for the kids' college if they don't want to attend the school he'll be an assistant at. He'll live even if he has to take a job at a local school for a fraction of what St. John's has paid him.

If Dooley for some reason moves on, Self would rehire Norm.
