i can't believe i'm even writing this in mid march.  this jerk should have been gone already.

Norm Roberts is a lot of things..   bad basketball coach. . YES..   terrible recruiter. .YES but the one thing he is not is a jerk.

For all of the basketball faults what do people expect from the guy. Dies anyone really expect him to just randomly walk away from $700k per year because fans don't think he is doing a good job. He is doing his best and its not good enought but it doesn't make him a jerk.

Great post PMG.  I hope Norm is let go, but let's not criticize Norm for not resigning, or accuse him of being a bad person.  He's a nice guy who is trying his hardest to succeed at his dream job.  Hopefully this can end without too much drama and Norm will get a chance coaching at a mid-major.

My Binghamton Bearcats are going to need a coach after a year of scandal. Norm could be the perfect fit. We all know he runs a clean program. And i dont think he d get out coached in the America East.

Norm would get outcoached by most coaches in the CHSAA.  GIve me a break.

What he MIGHT be able to do at a mid major is develop a team idenity of defense and get some recruits to come since he is so likable which might be enough to do some damage.

What makes you think he'd do well in the America East?
He beat Stony Brook with DJ Kennedy, Paris horne, Justin Burrell, Dwight Hardy and Justin Brownlee.

Norm isn't getting that kind of, um, I guess the term is talent in the AE.

Now that it sounds pretty definite that Norm is gone if we lose early and stays if he makes MSG,

Where did you hear that?

Brandon Tierney says a few wins and he stays.  The logical deduction from that is that getting to MSG is probably the point at which Tierney thinks he's back.

Not that Tierney knows anything but since he's such butt buddies with Norm I'd say it's safe to assume that that is what Norm would have to do at a minimum to stay,

Thanks.

We have absolutely no shot to beat memphis on the road unless they mail it in.

Has Memphis beatin anybody this year? Their RPI must be low to win 23 games and not make the Big Dance. I won't bet the house on it but we have a shot even if they don't mail it in IMOP. We have beaten more quality opponents and we won on the road in the BE (ND S.Florida Depaul).

If you have heard what has been going on @ bing you would know that norm is the man for the job. Complete lack of coach and adminstrative control. The only thing he excels at is running a clean program and thats what  is needed at bing.

There is a movement by a small percentage of faculty to go back to d3, but that wont happen. Once you get a taste of the big time its would be a disater to go back. they just built a $30+ million dollar arena. Would be a shame and money loser if the team went back to d3. The community and students have really gotten behind the team. Highest attendence in the league even w/ the scandal.

Norm continues to show class in all his interviews. This situation is putting so much pressure on the team and by team I mean the players. I really hope we make a deep run into the NIT. The one thing this team needs is success. That will build their confidence for a run at the NCAA tournament next year.

I am so proud on how our team has acted in the past 2 weeks. Kids standing by their coach. Showing great charactor at a time when it would have been so easy to jump ship or play the blame game.

I am not happy about the winning % for the past 6 years, but I just have a hard time not rooting for Norm and the kids he has brought to St. John's to succeed.

A deep NIT run this year could potentially hamstring the program for years to come.  Be careful what you wish for.  These kids will be served even better by having a new coach next year.

They could have a teacher coach then.
