Historic Rematch
« on: March 15, 2010, 01:01:40 PM »
It occurs to me that Wednesday's game is a historic replay of the consolation game in the 85 Final Four, which game is the apex of Saint John's glorious basketball history, which rich history SJ is this year busy celebrating. Who says the NIT is for LOOSERS!!

re·match   /v. riˈmætʃ, ˈriˌmætʃ; n. ˈriˌmætʃ/  Show Spelled[v. ree-mach, ree-mach; n. ree-mach]  Show IPA
–verb (used with object)
1.to match again; duplicate: an attempt to rematch a shade of green paint.
2.to schedule a second match for or between: to rematch the winners in each soccer league.
–noun
3.a second match between teams, challengers, etc.; return match.

I am sure St. John's and Memphis have placed at some point in their histories, but the game you refer to only happened in your growingly inaccurate and defective mind, thereby making a historic rematch impossible...at least for the rest of us who don't live in your senile alternate world.

1981 was the last time a 3rd place game was played in the NCAA tournament.

Gawd you're stupid.

Wait, let me guess, just like you didn't allege that Duke was playing in Greensboro this year, you didn't actually mean that St. John's played Memphis in 1985 either, right?

You're losing it man.  Take a few week break.  It's sad to see you in this state.  Owning you once was bad enough.  But twice in one day?  I don't want you going off the deep end yet....

What I said about dOoK was that they get a favorable draw in NC every year, which they do, and that when they didn't you started sobbing like a little girl about how unfair it all is, waaaa.

What I said about Memphis you didn't understand. That's okay: metaphors can be hard.

If you're going to fact check my posts, and feel free, at least bring something to the table. You know, like that trenchant analysis of my anti Italian bias. That rocked. In the meanwhile remember the first rule of good writing: show don't tell.

Did Memphis play St. John's in a third place game in 1985 like you alleged?

Gawd. I didn't allege Memphis and SJ played a third place game. I alleged that Wednesday's game would be a rematch of the glorious consolation match up between the two LOOSERS!! in the 85 final four, which historic consolation "game" SJ is now celebrating the 25th anniversary of. (Here I have ended a sentence in a proposition. Please mention that in your scintillating response. Also LOOSERS!! is spelled wrong, thrice now.) I did so because it struck me that the NIT committee was having a little fun at SJ's expense. I did not feel the need to add for the interminably literal minded that I was constructing a metaphor for the program's futility. In the future should I attempt a metaphor, simile, or, as in this case, a catachresis, I will append an asterisk for your edification.

Let me re-post for your edification.  It doesn't seem like you caught it the first time.  This is probably an effort in futility though, you know, considering your blindness.

Remember like it was yesterday, back when the holiday fest had itself some juice.

Memphis team also had David Vaughn who was a supreme PF.

Oooo snap. Are we going to trade 400 year old insults now? My turn: "I cannot but conclude the bulk of your natives to be the most pernicious race of little odious vermin that nature ever suffered to crawl upon the face of the earth."

Sir,
Need I remind you that this is a basketball forum?
