THE END OF Coach Roberts' Reign as SJU Head Coach
« on: March 17, 2010, 11:09:20 PM »
Norm will be fired within the next week, officially.  These kids played their hearts out all year.  With a good coach next year, they WILL be an NCAA team, and may even be able to make a run.  I can't WAIT for next season!  I also wish Norm the best wherever his path takes him.  He is a stand up guy, a great ambassador of the game, and I'll leave it at that.

Every fan who is still browsing the boards deserves serious praise for staying with this mess and we will all hopefully be rewarded in the near future.  Congratulations everyone!

He has to be gone, the players were heart broken, Kennedy was crying. I think they know something.

Sucks the season came  to an end like that. What sucks even more is fans rooting against the team. I think Norm is coming back.

Norm maybe you can get a job where there is loads of talent that will hide your coaching problems.  Your a good guy, but coaching basketball at a high level isn't your thing..

You will make a great high school coach, Norm..

I don't know any fans who root against St. John's.  We have differences in opinions on what is the best way for these kids - DJ, Justin, Paris, and the future of the program to be successful.

Your way = bullshit

My way = NCAA next year

Honestly - I hope Norm Roberts stays with our program forever in some other capacity.  He is a fantastic ambassador of the school.

However, I really hope he gets another shot coaching.  I don't see him becoming a great coach, but this was also a real hard job to come into...not easy tgo learn on the job in the Big East like this in a pressure cooker.  I hope he gets to take over a Wofford or a Elon or a IUPUI or some sort of smaller school far from NYC where he can just do his thing, and see if coaching (in a head coach capacity) is in the cards for him.

After he figures that out, if the answer is no, he should always have a spot at St. John's University.

Screw this whole idea of moving him upstairs...Take your 800K plus the millions you've made in the last 6 years (and haven't earned) and make like a tree and get out of here...

My problem is that anyone who does not do their job deserves to be fired.  He made a heck of a lot of money and many many people lose their jobs every day and they do it well and don't get paid millions.

Life is hard for everyone and god forbid we hold people accountable.

ok so we want him removed as the coach too, but i dont think any of us feel like he deserves to be shunned from the school...hes not bobby g dude, hes a great guy and everyone loves him, and he loves this program...so find a place for him in the admin where he can positively affect the program...we all hate him as a coach, not a person...u seem to hate him as both

Norm Robert's To Seton Hall University

SJU wishes Norm luck in his new home.  New coach for SJU looks forward to playing against Seton Hall in upcoming years!!

Can't blame me for high hopes...

We'll put Norm in the Peter J. Tobin Business School as an adjunct professor for Business Ethics class.
