So my brother is a junior in high school and plays on the Port Chester Kings/Frenji AAU team. They play in the outbracket of the tourney bc only the local dominant aau programs like MetroHawks, etc. get into the regular bracket to start...so last night they played the NJ Roadrunners who they knew nothing about....my bro was starting and the PG on his team called guarding the SG of the roadrunners, so someone told my bro "yo, you've got irving." My bro didn't know he was. So his teammate was like, you know, Kyrie Irving - Duke's PG for next year ha ha ha. I'm sure that's when he had a "oh sh!t" moment, and texted me from the bench "I think I'm abotu to guard Kyrie irving"
Anyways he only guarded him for 3-4 mins before the coach made the PG guard him, and my bro was guarding some 6'7 beast on their team, but it sounds like they had a great time...well as great as you can while losing by 50, but most of the kids on my bro's team are prob going D3 or D2 with a few exceptions that will get D1 offers, hopefully.
CYP is a great tournament, but I always have a hard time believing high school kids want to play in that gym. I played there for CYO from 3rd to 8th grade and it is SO crowded, bench and the stands are on the court, such a small gym...it's crazy.
Anyways no real relevance, just thought I would share.
