sorry doubt your sources are better than those of  ny post's, ny daily news'...they said he was offered a contract...come on your from CBA how good can your sources be ...haha just playin

You could choose not to believe me. I know that I'm right though.

i believe you...whos going to be our next coach then?

That I don't know  ;D

well get our your sources CBA boy....save us all the agony

I'd prefer you just call me Dave. I have a tremendous amount of pride in my high school but it doesn't need to be brought up in every post whether its in a positive/negative regard.

It's weird that you want me to name who the coach is going to be when earlier today you were bitching that we don't gather a list of candidates before offering to one exclusively. Make up your mind!

So like I said before the school is currently pursuing many different coaches in an effort to seek the best candidate. The media frenzy may focus on one coach at a time but its not like that in reality. We're not going from person A down to person B to person C its more like Group A and Group B.

Lavin is definitely a person that should be taken very seriously and as the coaching carousel takes some more twists and turns the interest level could increase very rapidly.

pipe down chief....i didnt same name the coach..im just trying to get a feel of what your reliable "sources" are saying..that has nothing to do with me being curious as to what your "sources" are saying  and how i feel the coaching process should be played out...dont tell me to make up my mind or to stop bitching when clearly you have no idea where im coming from.

i dont want to start a big thing here, but i feel its my duty to inform you that you are a huge douchebag...look at the number of posts you have, then look at the number Dave has...in 3 yrs of being on this site, i dont remember offhand Dave ever being off base on something like this...if you love the newspapers sources so much, then go there for your information, and read all the great articles they have written from their sources, like how greenberg was offered a contract

he is getting mad because im calling him "CBA" boy and calling out his school in a joking matter....i hate CBA...my high school and his high school were rivals when i was in school. I played on the basketball team and when we played them it was war. Every school in the shore conference hates them...im joking around with him...as to the other things..i have no clue why he is getting so mad. I asked him where he was getting all this information from that we dont hear and he said his sources and i said who are your sources saying is going to be next coach...all i said..and before that i said the coaching process wasnt played out correctly IN MY OPINION which is entitled to me...so to come in here and call me a douche bag..uncalled for..you dont even know what is going on between me and him...and to think about it...is nothing at all

Since when am I mad? I'm not mad at you or anyone here.

I just find it to be unnecessary and I'm asking you politely (not that I need to ask) to just address me by my name not by my highschool or some nickname you deem. Its just being polite and respectful.

There is a certain level of respect that is extended to every person on this site and we're all here to discuss basketball. If you want to talk about high school sports or other off topic subject we have appropriate boards for that stuff. I will gladly talk about my glory days of highschool and how we dominate the shore in...everything. :)

As to what I post from sources or my own first hand knowledge of things is my business. I volunteer to pass this knowledge that I have onto all of you here....I don't have to do that. There are other posters here who do the same thing and have real knowledge of things and I appreciate their insight to things as well.

You are definitely welcome to disagree or not believe what I have to say too. Thats entirely up to you but I will never post some bogus bullshit.

I like you as a poster and love the energy you bring to the site. You're a younger guy here and thats great I hope more students follow in your foot steps. Keep on posting!

As much as I appreciate your loyalty and allegiance there is no need for name calling. You know better than that   :-*

By the way - let's not fall back on the "you only have so and so many posts" line to denigrate someone.  Call out people on their content. There are some cats who don't post as much and drop wisdom, and some folks who post all the time and... well, they drop anti-wisdom.

Just sayin'.

No worries. If you want to talk some CBA trash thats cool but do it in the college/pro sports board. We can talk jersey shore hoops all day!

I'm not God. I don't have every scoop. I'm not all knowing and all powerful. I do have a good amount of contacts and I get some gems sometimes. I always try and hook you guys up but I'm damn cautious. For the guys who have been around for a while know by the mystery recruit  ;D

Now lets get back to topic....thoughts on Steve Lavin anyone?

If we went by number of posts Marco Baldi would be John Wooden  ;D

Pros

Big Time Recruits
Success in NCAA Tourney
High Major Experience/Success
"Sexy" Candidate
Would put us back on the map and people would know about STJ hoops
Rumored Assistants are big time

Cons

Could destroy program for good
Terrible in game coach
Former players hate him
Has been away for a while
Not a NY guy

At this point, I would love to roll the dice on Lavin, as there is nothing left on the carousel.  He is far from a sure thing but it would energize the dead fanbase and give us national notoriety and some much needed publicity (both positive and negative).  If we strike out on Lavin, there may be nothing left and that would be a damn shame.  I really don't see where the next turn is after Lavin.  I think it would be Baron, and that would be a joke and would piss everyone off.

Some of your cons. It's pretty hard to say he's a bad game coach when he won 20+ games every year. I think to say his strong suit isn't x/o is fair. I also believe there is a difference between being a bad x/o and bad game coach. Meaning that you might not be able to draw up the right play but you know when to call it. So a good supporting staff is important.

Also to say his former players hate him is also a pretty blanket statement. Can you name all the players who supposedly hate him? Did you know that Steve Lavin was at Baron Davis' wedding. He was. I don't know if you'd invite a guy you hate to your wedding. Baron Davis isn't exactly known to be easiest guy to get along with either.
