i dont think i would mind fordham, although i dont know much about him. i do like the fact that we would havr a guy with ties to Detroit, even if he isnt a recruiter.
then we would have some ties with, dmv, nyc, detroit, cali
As recruiters at the high-major level, how many of them would you be willing to bet heavily on?
I'd say just Lavin, with the hope that it won't take him more than a year to catch up to speed. Chiles has the pedigree, but we'll see. I certainly hope it works out. Hines is completely unproven as a recruiter, but he may eventually be able to sell his time as an assistant with the Warriors as a major positive.
If one wanted to target Michigan, most coaches, particularly with Nike ties, would target The Family, due to it being the most powerful AAU program, by far, in Michigan, but, as of this weekend, Marlon Williamson is hoping for a Midwest job. Eventually, Beilein may get desperate enough.
Someone, who almost everybody here would know and Zags endlessly quotes, said this weekend that he's not sure if Hicks will wind up at St. John's because there's been back and forth over the proposed money and position ...apparently the salary that was initially proposed hadn't come through and it was still up in the air as to whether the program would be able to come up with more than he makes through the combined salary of the Gauchos and Rice.
I certainly hope everything works out as relatively smoothly as it has during this honeymoon period and look forward to observing what they can accomplish and who they will target during the ever important July period.
