My guess would be full-time Video Coordinator.  We are going to have the biggest staff in the country.  LOL
I read on redmen.com that Adubato (spelling) is still in play...my guess would be for recruiting coordinator.  Funny thing is that we are going to have like ten guys on the staff that were more experienced that Norm Roberts.

We go from a head coach that lost 80% of his games at D-2 to an Associate Head Coach that won two D-2 titles before moving to the NBA.

He flew to LA.  I thought Berkley was a few hours North, but I haven't been to Cali since I was six.

I think he probably did a lot while he was out there...probably moved a lot of his stuff as well.

L.A. to Oakland is a short flight, and Berkeley is right there to the north. If he had stayed longer he could have put the recruiting press on one of the best shooting guards on the West Coast (Oakland) and then driven up to Sacramento to get us a top point guard.

From Zagsblog:

http://www.zagsblog.com/2010/05/04/kadeem-jack-to-south-kent/#more-33029

Mike Dunlap (Assistant Coach), Moe Hicks  (Director of Basketball Operations) and Derrick Wrobel  (Administrative Assistant to the Head Coach) will all be official at St. John’s under head coach Steve Lavin in the next 7-10 days, sources said.

That leaves one admininstrative spot left, which will likely be filled by one of the following:

·         Dwayne “Tiny” Morton, Lincoln High School, Brooklyn

·         Carlos Antonio Fordham, AAU and former J.C. coach from Detroit, Mich.

·         Matt Kovarik, Loyola (Md). No. 1 assistant coach, former Maryland assistant coach

·         Jerry Hobbie, former Houston assistant coach

·         David Gale, LA Clippers video assistant

Anyone with info on these guys?  Besides Hobbie and Tony, of course.

I see Fordham use to be an AAU coach for the Michigan Hurricanes.  Maybe, his ties to the area may be able to help us.

I know he won't be able to directly to recruit, but his presence could come into play.  Who knows!?!

i dont think i would mind fordham, although i dont know much about him. i do like the fact that we would havr a guy with ties to Detroit, even if he isnt a recruiter.

then we would have some ties with, dmv, nyc, detroit, cali

As recruiters at the high-major level, how many of them would you be willing to bet heavily on?

I'd say just Lavin, with the hope that it won't take him more than a year to catch up to speed. Chiles has the pedigree, but we'll see. I certainly hope it works out. Hines is completely unproven as a recruiter, but he may eventually be able to sell his time as an assistant with the Warriors as a major positive.

If one wanted to target Michigan, most coaches, particularly with Nike ties, would target The Family, due to it being the most powerful AAU program, by far, in Michigan, but, as of this weekend, Marlon Williamson is hoping for a Midwest job. Eventually, Beilein may get desperate enough.

Someone, who almost everybody here would know and Zags endlessly quotes, said this weekend that he's not sure if Hicks will wind up at St. John's because there's been back and forth over the proposed money and position ...apparently the salary that was initially proposed hadn't come through and it was still up in the air as to whether the program would be able to come up with more than he makes through the combined salary of the Gauchos and Rice.

I certainly hope everything works out as relatively smoothly as it has during this honeymoon period and look forward to observing what they can accomplish and who they will target during the ever important July period.

It'll be a huge mistake if Lavin doesn't keep Cross. He brought 3 of his players in for Norm Roberts, imagine how many would be on this team now that Lavin is the coach.

Any update on Hicks or Dunlap yet ?

So far still just Chiles and Hines (plus Wrobel Admin.) ?
(SJU website still shows Cross & Singleton listed too)

And those three players were?
I only count Omari.  Burrell was already here.  Not sure who else you would allude to.

Patience.
If they weren't coming on board, don't you think the positions would be filled already with others.
