Recruiting PATIENCE!

Going to take some time to wipe off the Norm stink! Don't get discouraged! It is a different kind of stink than the Jarvis stink, but a stink nonetheless!

the 9 scholies are whats important...dont look for lavin to bring in a top recruit this offseason..he might, but give the guy some time, hes been out for 7 years, and the top recruits have had coaches on their nuts for prob 4 yrs already in some cases

Norm was given a shat program when hired and did a great job rebuilding, you cannot compare Norms situation to Lavins

not sure what u mean...i didnt say anything about norm...i said let him fill the 9 scholies, but give him time, not too much, but dont expect the guy to be jesus reincarnated and sign recruits within the month...and dont look for him to pull a rabbit out of his hat and introduce a top recruit to the team for this year and cut a scholie from a kid already on the team

np, i just confused lol, but i totally agree with u anyway...completely diff situation...relationships have been rebuilt, program cleaned up, has a full team of players that while arent high level talent, are good enough to win with right away...i expect he will make some sort of impact relatively quickly on the recruiting trail once his staff is fulling assembled

I wish the area was stronger in 2011, but he's got to get after it. Thankfully, we finally have a coach, who can sell NYC and St. John's to kids nationally. As a coach, he's got three things working for him:
1) inheriting a team likely to, at least, make a postseason (so many have to inherit a losing situation)
2) immediate available playing time in 2011 (very few coaches at the high-major level would have so much time available to sell)
3) the initial buzz that comes with change that every coach enjoys with recruits in his first two years coincides with scholarship availability.

There is also no reason for him to have use up all of his nine scholarships in that class. It creates way too much volatility long-term for the program.

True.

No smart coach would bring in 9 freshmen; they'd all be pissed about playing time.  causes trouble.  I think he's got to get at least 2 JUCOs and maybe a transfer in 2011, leave at least 1 schollie open if not 2 for some players in 2012.
